im really liking the idea of starting up a softwashing with my window washing. Since i dont know much about softwashing... was wondering what you guys can tell me about it;;;
- should i go gas or electric power washer
- I know I got to go with a 4gpm macvhine but how about the PSI
- Is it a hard ART to learn the softwashing;
anything else would be helpful.... thx
1- gas
2- psi isn’t very important, hence the term “soft” washing. a typical 4gpm machine will give you way more psi than you need.
3- it’s not hard at all. there’s a learning curve, but it’s easier than window cleaning
soft-wash only systems are starting to be sold now that run off 12v pumps and batteries, but i would still get a pressure washer. you can use it for soft washing and other stuff that can make you good money.
you should check out the pwra forums and ptstate.com (bob from pressuretek sarted those boards a long time ago and it’s loaded with info.)
Maybe a dumb question, but how do you use your pressure washer for soft washing? I’m getting one in the next couple if weeks and I would like to know about offering the service. I’ve been searching the PETA forums, but could still use some direction.

Not that I couldn’t find much…For some reason I can’t get the app to download to my phone, and that site isn’t as user-friendly to navigate, for some reason, without the app. I have found a lot if useful info there, just not much about using your pressure washer to soft wash…,Most of what I’m seeing is saying to get a soft wash system, and that’s out of the question for me right now, so I was really intrigued by the thought if using my pressure washer for it…
To clarify, when saying that you can use the PW to soft wash, are they basically just saying to use the soap tip to apply chemicals prior to pressure washing? I am familiar with doing that. Maybe the terminology just threw me a bit.

you can lower the pressure that comes out of your pw’er by using nozzles with larger orifices at then end of your gun. the bigger hole on the tip lowers the back-pressure and lets the same volume of water out but at a lower pressure.
think: garden hose with adjustable sprayer. the jet setting is higher pressure, the soaker or fan setting is lower pressure. the same amount of water is coming out, just a lower pressure and broader pattern.
go on youtube and search “downstream injector”. alex curry made a sweet video of soft washing a house with his 8gpm machine. look for that and others and you’ll see how it’s done.
Ok I’m in a similar position as atlas. But I already have 3800 psi 3.8 gpm pressure washer and I would like to start soft washing with it. How do I go about doing it? Who do I call or reach out too to be setup to start adding this service to my business? I’m sure there is a company that you tell them what u got and they tell you this is what u need. Who is the best for that in your guys opinion?

Bob @ pressuretek.com set me up for under $100 including some chemical, IIRC. He’ll get you the right tips, down streamer, and anything else you need for your particular machine. All you need besides that is a container to hold your mix (I use a 5 gallon bucket with lid), and Bleach. I’ve been using the 8.25% “outdoor bleach” from Clorox, as I don’t do a lot of PW’ing right now. But as I add on, I’ve already got connections with a pool supply company that can get me 12.5% SH (sodium hypochlorite, also called liquid pool shock, or hi-test bleach) a lot cheaper than off the shelf stuff.
I would get everything Bob recommends. He won’t try to over-sell you on anything.
Just watched that video. Thanks to Alex C for making it. Great video for the beginner. Just wish it had been longer. Would have liked to see the entire process from mix to finish.
