I know some of you have tried it before and I was wondering how it turned out for you. I know that this particular club has a womans club in it as well. Depending on how long the season runs, they estimate about 30,000 people will get this card.
here is the info:
<big>
Hi ,
Thank you for speaking with me today.
</big><big>
We are going to be providing course guides for all of the golfers at the Country Club</big><big>. </big><big>We would like to feature your business in front of these high income people. 90% are home owners, with families that own 2-3 cars per family and eat out 4 -5 times per month. Also 60% of these golfers are business owners or in upper management. This demographic has the disposable income who need and use your services but more importantly can afford to pay you.</big>
<big>
Clearly perfect for your business. </big>
<big> <small><big>Benefits of Sponsoring in the Yardage Book:</big></small>
The course guides will be distributed to members, guests & used as marketing collateral for the club. These guide books are a great tool to feature the club amenities and other revenue streams to promote the property as a recreation destination. Each page within the book is sponsored by a local business and will contain a “business card” size advertisement that features the logo, contact info and any images of the business or products. The book provides a great word of mouth campaign for any business that is featured, as the golfers can take them home with them, keep them in their golf bags and show their friends where they just played.
</big><big><big>Cost:</big>
The cost includes everything, all the graphic art work, printing and it’s only a 1 time fee of <big>$395.00</big> gives you 12 rolling months of advertising!
For more exposure
You may purchase the Inside back cover (opposite the score card page) for<big> $695.00.</big>
The Map Page - </big><big><big><big><small>$790.00</small>
</big></big>The back cover - <big>$790.00
</big>Dual Exposure: we can put you on the front nine and back nine for the one time discounted rate <big>$750.00</big> for the year. (paid in full at time of sale)
</big><big><big>
</big></big><big>What’s more important is not only who you will be reaching on a daily basis, but with your ad on the Course Guides, I can virtually guarantee that everyone who plays out here will have to see your message and become familiar with you throughout the year.</big>
Great sales pitch for sure and the price seems reasonable. I have never tried anything like this, but I sure seems like it’s worth a try. Maybe try the smaller ad and if it works, do the bigger ad next year. I have spent alot more for horrible results. Can you get a copy of the directory and see what other vendors saw for results?
I have to say that seems like a great advertisement idea. If those are the clients that you are interested in targeting, then it would be great for Branding. And who doesn’t like clients that golf at places like that and drop $$$ w/o a 2nd thought. Just for comparison a mid sized billboard where I am costs $600 monthly. Across from the score card might be a great spot.
Call the cleaning company listed in the guide. These things are like diner placemats and the back of cash register receipts, they seem like they’d be good but never really are.
Call the club and check out how legit it is. Then pitch the club, decks of bridge cards with your info printed on them, give a free talk to the woman’s club about water stains, mirror cleaning etc

I placed an ad with a company called Premier Publishing out of Florida. They print Golfer’s Digest Magazine. I had a quarter page ad in the Magazine that was distributed to 4 country clubs. The price was $250.00. Then 2 weeks later they called and said I can get a half page ad in the magazine that went to the 4 clubs plus an additional 4 clubs(so 8 total) for an additional fee of $150.00.
Normal price for this was like $700.00 for all 8 clubs. I said no thanks, let me see how the first 4 go and I’ll decide on what to do next year. Well, the magazines/books went out in April and here it is November and I didn’t get not 1 call from the ad. Glad I didn’t go with the additional 4 clubs. ghey called me about 5-6 times getting me to go with the additional 4 club’s. Even right when it was going to print they called again.
They also gave me the whole sales pitch too, saying that I was getting a special price blah blah blah. Not worth it to me, my opinion and experience.
Seems great but personally I don’t like them. First your advertising in a place where people are having fun and letting loose. Your audience is less subjective. Second your in a book with completing with a lot of other noise and a small ad is hard to stand out. So now your in a place where the last thing on people’s minds is their homes and if they look through the book how do you stand out.
On the other had it is a small investment and you can get lucky. It is targeting a market that would hire you.
On the other other hand that $800 dollars can mail 5k flyers for me and I know I will get work from that.
