Finally got a cox reel for my Tacoma setup 300 feet of WFP hose, yes I was hand coiling it every time we went to a job! I am looking for suggestions on how to mount it to my Tacoma truck bed, any ideas are appreciated
I had a rack welded to my ladder rack to mount 2 cox reels. A buddy of mine had a steel plate mounted on 2 legs and then bolted on the edge of the top of truck the truck bed. Plate gave enough room to mount reel and the legs provided the support needed to crank the cox reel. dont try bolting it to you tail gate with self tappers the just wriggle loose. However you mount it. Bolt it and lock tight.
Anyway you can post a picture of that rack Doc? Is it an aluminum ladder rack?
Ill see what I can do. its a custom metal ladder rack
Oops, thats exactly what I told him to do. My bad mark.
What about drilling holes and bolting it to the back of the bed near the tailgate? That should work, just put some lock washers on it and it should be solid.
I don’t have a cox reel but I am in the lawn care biz, I say learn from the guys that do 30 jobs a day pulling out there hose (not me I use a back pack sprayer but this is how I would do it). Mount above the rail of the truck and have it point OUT the passenger side.

The problem I have with the Tail Gate is that I cant put my pressure washer in
I made a wooden box about 8 inches high that covers my entire bed. I keep my sectional pieces underneath it and I have two Cox reels mounted side-by-side on the passenger side.
Nice setup I have a similar setup but wish I would have got Tundras instead of Tacomas, I also run two tanks so I do lack room especailly when toting a pressure washer
