Custom Tool Belts

You guys that don’t like the pulex because it bangs your knee, are you using on the belt it comes with? I use the clip on my pants belt and have found it doesn’t do that.

Has anyone considered (for a right handed person) putting the BOB on left hip and squeeges on the right hip? I haven’t tried it yet but I think this arrangement would help relieve my right arm and employ my left arm more often. I only really see it being a problem when I’m leaning up against a ladder with a window to my right side. This arrangement would also in theory allow me to move more quickly as I would be able to be pulling a squeege out while replacing my strip washer.

Mr. Squeege - Thanks for posting the pictures of your setup. I’ve been referring to them as I try to settle into my own setup. One question - which are you, right or left handed? Left huh?

Also, I am considering putting my tool pouch on my right hip also. It just makes sense to grab small tools and scraper etc. with the hand that will be using them.

What do you think?

I am slightly ambidextrous. I have slightly more dexterity using my left but I write left handed and I golf, bat, throw right handed. It has allowed me to be able to use either hand when at the top of a difficult ladder set.

I think whatever set up allows you to utilize both hands will improve your speed and versatility.

Where do you keep your cell phone when you wear these belts?

I am concerned about getting it wet.

Up to now I have not been using a belt, but I am about to start in some situations.

I have been using a single squeegee holster and a garden shears holster to carry a small razor blade holder. That is all. I didn’t want to use a belt that needs to be removed and put on after every stop, but I see some situations where it would be helpful. I haven’t been doing much residential.

For one thing I could use a pouch to carry bills for collecting…also for interior work.

Thanks for the info.

I have an older Nokia with a Body Glove belt holder. It gets thrashed, but keeps on working. Getting wet is never really a problem, even in the rain. One can purchase many different brands of cell phone holders, however.

Seconds on and seconds off for my belt (3-loop belt, Unger ErgoTec pouch, BOAB, clip-on utility pouch for steel wool.)

I either use my ErgoTec pouch for invoices or an Saunders aluminum clipboard/form holder.

I put my phone in the same pouch that holds my invoice book, booty boots, and extra scrim.

Thanks. That is interesting. That must be a big pouch since it holds a scrim. I need one when I carry bills. It is hard to stuff them into my shirt pocket. These little things matter.

I lost one phone when the holster clip broke off (I never knew until it was too late) and another when it got wet.

Since then I have used a Home Depot holster with a loop that goes all the way through my pants belt. I haven’t lost a phone that way, although I almost did when the holster loop broke through and it fell to the ground, believe it or not.

That is why I am watching the phone holsters so much.

The scrim is folded so it doesn’t take up much space. I use the Winspray jumbo pouch.

Thanks much. I thought I read that the Unger pouch only fit with the Unger Ergotec belt though.

I have been trying out the belt idea. The weight does tend to pull my pants down so I keep having to pull them up.

Has anyone tried out the ergotec belt with the suspenders? How did it work?

The unger belt only works with the unger pouches. I have the full set up. I like to interchange the pouches to suit my needs. I have the suspenders but rarely use them. I just could not get used to them. They take some time to adjust but once you got it they are great. They do hold up the belt really nice. The main reason I stopped using them Was due to the noise and my towels. The clips at the end are metal and just jingle when you move and stretch. It drove me nuts! The other thing is that I like to keep a towel or two over my shoulder. With the nylon suspenders the towels would just slide right off. So needless to say mine have been collecting dust for some time now.

Nope – it fits over any belt “standard” belt (I don’t have that fancy-schmancy ErgoTec belt system).

Thanks. That is interesting. I read that on one of the window cleaning tools websites. I thought it was velcro. Are you saying it has a loop for a belt?

It is a full-width loop formed with velcro.

Thanks. To me, it seems that the velcro would be a negative unless it can be used on your belt.

Here is another question. I have an old belt with the snap buckle broken. If the plastic buckle breaks, is there a place to buy a replacement for just that part or is the belt gone?

My local Ace Hardware sells plastic buckle parts (both sides.)

Thanks very much. I will go there.

I do not like a tool or purchase item that has one small part that wears out way before the rest does and makes the whole thing useless.
