Customer reminders

What have you found works best for reminders to customers?
email, text, postcard, phone call?

Or some combination?

All of the above
People respond to different types of things so it’s smart to use every form available

I send a text the day before around 6pm , I word it something like this .

Hi mr smith , hope you doing well. Just a friendly reminder. , I’ll be there tomorrow morning around 8am to take care of the window cleaning . Thank you and see you tomorrow

Depends on the type of reminder you’re wanting. To remind people of service appointments, I use email, but a text system for residential clients seems extremely practical (I just don’t have one set up yet. I think this is available for Responsibid users and HouseCall may be doing it soon.)
If you’re reminding people to come back in for service without you having them on a preset schedule, I would think it would depend on your market. One guy I talked to said using a 3-6-9 month reminder email to existing customers increased jobs 60% over the previous year. Some people may do better with postcards. That’s what the dentist uses, right?
I find that phone call reminders don’t work well on 50% of my clients. Many say they’ll wait till spring/fall, after the pollen season ends, after the kids go back to school… It seems like people are trained to make excuses to every business that calls them on the phone. Some tell me they only do every other year. Most of those people DO call me back on their own without any reminder.

I’ve been e-mailing. Works like a charm for checking back in on quotes.

I just asked in the chat about a text going out the day before a job is scheduled. Right now I use HC for notifications that I’m on the way along with the email reminder. But, I have clients who rarely check their email so it would be nice to use the text feature to remind the customer.

And what’s the development schedule for doing email blasts i.e. Newsletters, Spring/Fall reminders? I’m currently looking into MailChimp or Responsibid for this functionality but I’d prefer not to have to translate my customer database for either of those services since it seems HC should be able to do it.

Thanks for asking! Because we currently require email marketing to be tied to jobs, we have a delivery rate of over 98%. Imagine this: a pro signs up with us, imports a list of names that they bought somewhere, and sends an email blast to everyone. Most of these people report it as spam. That hurts the delivery rate of ALL of our pros.

Once we can send a higher volume of emails so that these incidents of spam have less of an effect, we will add this feature. For now, we highly recommend Mailchimp! You can easily export your customer list from HouseCall Pro and import it there. It’s an excellent service and it’s free. Mailchimp can handle incidents of spam since it sends out a much higher volume of emails than we currently do through our server.

To answer your question, we don’t have a set timeline for this feature. We need to build up our customer base first, then it will happen. Recommend us to your friends to speed it up!

Thank you for the real explanation. That makes me feel better. You guys have been awesome to work with
