Dangit! Lost another sponge

This is sponge #2 that I’ve lost. I know where I left it but it will probably be gone when I return. I don’t always use a sponge but when I do I don’t have a convenient place to keep it when working. I have a pouch but keep dry towels, blade, and usually an invoice with me so I don’t want a wet sponge in there. Where do you guys keep that wet sponge when working??

Do you have room on your belt for a second pouch?

I use a small nylon AWP clip-on pouch from Lowe’s for my sponge. It’s about 8 bucks, and can be found in the tool belt and accessories section.

In addition, I had our veterinarian implant a tracking microchip into all my sponges for just such an occasion.

What if the tracking chip tells you that the sponge has gone back to a reef?

What if the tracking chip tells you that the sponge has gone back to a reef?

I’ve lost enough tools over the years to fill up at least 2 tool boxes. We all know sponges don’t have leg’s so i dout he went back to the reef.

So be it.

tomc, didn’t mean to hijack your thread. Larry’s idea of the AWP pouch works well for me. It is the right size, is cheap, it clips on so you can use it when you need it.

Dangit sending you my rig for using the Natural Sea-Sponge and the

same device,I also use to holds my Mr.ScrimGem…I use Unger’s

ErgoTec Bottle Holder.

They have really worked the best to hold my Sponge/Scrim exclusively.

They fit on the belt really well, Oh it’s the full size Mr.ScrimGem that yawl see !

I’ve only room for one Unger ErgoTec Bottle Holder on my belt, and it holds a bottle of solution with a flip-top.

Can we see a picture of your belt Larry?

I’ve emailed pix to Stuart and Mike Defiel. I’ll try to get them posted here. Lastly, I’ll show them to you in NOLA.

I figured I just needed another pouch to hold it but thought I’d ask what you guys use. Sometimes I just don’t like all that stuff on my belt. Starting to feel like Batman with his utility belt. I get in tight situations cleaning where I’m bumping everything around me. But I like the idea of a clip-on where I can take it off when not needed. So far I have a Pulex BOAB(w 3 squeegees), a hammer loop for small squeegee(sills typically), a pouch for towel/invoice/blade, caribiner for occasionally hanging towels in use, and soon to be clip on pouch for sponge.

Use wash and reach

I use those square OCELO sponges all the time! Not the super small ones or the super big ones, just the mid size ones. I can clean a screen, wipe a frame, suck up a puddle or quick clean out a track. I have to replace them about monthly but they are very cheap. As far as storing them? I just toss them in my bucket with my strip washer and brush. Squeeze it when I need it. Or if I have to scrape some paint on a window, I will just wet my sponge and wet down the small area on the glass, scrape it then squeegee it off. Works awesome and I would highly recommend it!

Yo TommyC-esta

The Unger Ergo Tec bottle holder is also a clip on-est, rather the loop is a velcro strap and can be taken on and off like a clip !

A hammer loop is for carpenters and their hammers, and sure it works, like a Hot Air Balloon could fly you to China but a Jet can get you there much faster !

What I’m saying is a squeegee holster is much more sweeter then a hammer loop, and designed by window cleaners for window cleaners ! Just like sectional ladders are window cleaner ladders !

That Ergo Tech Bottle Holder is made for a bottle but a sponge fits in it really well ! If the pouch is to small the sponge will pop out and you may not know it and lose it that way also !

Sticking all your squeegees in your BOAB cause it to flounder and tip all over the place ! Squeegee holsters work very nicely and cause all your tools to sit more squarely on your waist…

Though we all have our own standards eh, so like you want, the ergo tech does clip on, rather loop/velcro on…But you can stick a Huck/Scrim in it or a sponge , or what it’s designed for a squirt/spray bottle ! Very functional…

Enrica,

Have you ever used a medium to large size Natural Sea-Sponge ? They work way better then a synthetic sponge.

Sure the synthetic sponges do work…

They work like a Bicycle transporting you down a highway to do all your jobs unlike a four wheel 4 to 6 to 8 cylinder engined vehicle, which will get you there faster with enough equipment to get any job done !

Better said, A natural sea-sponge is the apex of tools for Advanced Window Cleaners (heck any w/c), and they really work better then any other type of absorbent tool !

Shore the Ocelo sponge works, but not as sweet as a Natural Sea-Sponge !

Really though you should try one out just to see the difference !

(Post is directed at humor)(but the gist is true)

Ha ha! Thanks Dangerino. I will look into this natural sea sponge.

I hardly ever use a sponge, but what i did was took a plastic ring from a shower curtain, stabbed through the sponge and fed the ring through it. Now i can just clip the sponge on to a cord or what ever else, on and off my belt as needed. i only really use the sponge to clean off my squeegee, so it doesnt need to reach the windows or far away from my belt, so it works just fine

Dangerous Dave gave me a sea sponge and an unger bottle holder to holster it when I was working with him one day. I use it every time I clean windows and have not looked back. I did trim the sponge some (sorry Dave!) so it would fit better in the holster. Using the sea sponge saves me a ton of time, I can soak up gallons of ledge water without going through a million hucks. Can’t wait until I get a scrim, though

What’s the cause of all that water on your sills, Jesse?
