hey this is the new add on i am starting this year!!! so…
i have been researching diligently for weeks.
the process itself is easy and it works.
the issue on this job would be is that safety glass… i would think so and it cannot be drilled unless you can go through the side frame not the glass. that looks pretty awkward here.
if not safety glass the other issue might be the slope, the vents used in the process vary and some allow water to pass thru easier.
cost wise i haven’t completed a price list yet but it is based on the cost of replacement less 50-70 percent. each pane here would likely be 150-225.
it’s like scratch repair in the gun to head factor price is based more the cost/savings vs the alternatives rather than material plus labour.
Awesome…I just watched a few vids about the process and it looks cool. Thanks for the info especially about the safety glass & pricing.
Don’t do it. tell them it needs to be replaced. If you shader the glass that high up and it hits some one you will be in serious trouble. That is not the one to practice on.
one more important note: initially the seal around the glass unit keeps most moisture out and there is desiccant inside the spacer to absorb any moisture that does get in.
windows start to fog when there is more moisture between the glass than the desiccant can hold.
defogging allows the moisture to escape.
in some conditions the window may refog but the venting will continue to clear it.
DO NOT OVERSELL the results, they are good but not perfect. better to under promise over deliver.
I agree…even if I did it after hours. The liability & not knowing if it is safety glass is making me pass this up. But thanks for the feedback and I’ll start small if I’m going to try it out 1st.
Excellent info…really appreciate it!
