DeWalt cordless vacuum

Found this at Lowe’s for $100 ( battery not included). One 18v battery with dual charger sold separately for $140.
Anyone have experience with this product?
Pros/ cons?

I haven’t seen this but it looks great actually.

So they sell the vac for $100, but you can’t use it unless you give them another $140? That’s messed up!!

You can buy the 18 v screw gun and it comes with 2 batt. and Charger for only 99 bucks at HD.

Why spend 200 or more on a vac, when you can buy a small shop vac that plugs in for under 100?

Neither one will make any better an impression to customers.

Cordless isn’t to impress customers it’s to speed up the operation and eliminate the possibility of the cord getting caught on something and knocking it over.

I have one and they are ok, not the best vac but since it is cordless I am willing to give up some suction I guess. Only thing that sucks is unlike say the radio when you have a battery in it and plugged in it charges the battery, the vac does not.

freemind because i did that circa 2003 when I had not seen the cordless vac. Its saves allot of time. Allot of homes, have switches that control outlets, only one outlet works, stuff in front of the outlet etc.

Its a huge pane in the neck.

I have had this vaccum since 2003 or 2004, the only bad thing it is sucks allot of juice. Do not walk around a large home with the vac on between rooms it will suck the battery down to nothing. Turn on and off each window. Also some battery technology does better outside in the winter in cold states. I had other dewalt stuff, so I have a crap ton of these batteries. My vac came with one, or two batteries back in the day and i think it was $89. I thought it was a huge deal as compared to buying the batteries one at a time, I almost thought of the vac as free, since it was only a bit more then two batteries alone.

Thanks for your explanation.
I currently don’t use a cordless, and I have no issues using a corded vacs. I can see the productivity hike using a cordless, but as guys are pointing out, these don’t seem like a slam dunk solution at this point. Especially if you have many job lined up that day, that you need to use it. Way too much fumbling with batteries, IMO.

I have the smaller dewalt vac, its awesome, compact enough to walk in each room and do your thing. The battery is fine as long as you are not trying to vacuum the carpet in an entire room. as far as tracks you should brush and vac at the same time, push all the dirt to the vac as it sucks it up. works great in this manner.

as far as power, it is pretty weak but sufficient for what we need to use it for. I once was at a cusomers house and they had a dyson plugged into the wall next to their slidding door. i decided to turn it on real quick and suck the dirt from the sliding door tracks and OMG the sucktion was so strong that with only one pass all the dirt was gone. I thought about the benefit of having a corded vac with strong suction but determined that the convenience of a lesser suction cordless far outweights it. my two cents

Well, I went ahead and bought this vacuum. Also got the 2pack of 18v batteries and a charger. $270 all together so I would say the price is high. Charged 1 of the batteries, slapped it on and did my house with 27 panes and was done in under 10 minutes. It does a good job with the bugs and loose dirt. Just like any other vacuums I’ve used in the past, you will still have to brush the dried up dust mud and the hard to reach corners in the tracks.
It runs quiet, my ears weren’t ringing after being done.
I loved the fact of not having to search for an outlet in every room and dragging a cord.
It only weighs 10 lbs. with the battery.

All in all, I think this will get the job done and I am happy with it.
