Hi Guys,
I’ve just finished setting up my RODI unit, (two prefilters, 4040 RO and a DI canister on a sack-truck/hand trolley) and its all working well, good flow and 000ppm (from 370ppm tap water)
But I just wanted to know hows best to transport it?
I’ve been using it to just fill up a couple of barrels on my trailer, but figured I might try using the pole directly from the unit.
Ive heard that you can mess up your resin by laying the tank/canister down or knocking it over, but im not sure to what degree.
I only run the unit when its upright, but to transport it anywhere I’ld have to lie it down in the car or on the trailer, would this be ok for the resin??
Also, another quick question: How much can I reasonably restrict the waste water flow on the RO? The incoming TDS is 370ppm, and I’ll need a flow rate of atleast 2/Lpm (0.6gpm i think)
The membrane is a Filmtec BW3HR LE-4040 (rated for Brackish Water and about 2400GPD)
Hey Sam,
I’ve got a system built on a hand truck similar to that. I lay it on it’s back in my minivan everyday. It’s been working just fine for the last 4 years. I get my RO membrane cleaned once a year and I change out my DI resin when the TDS is too high for spot-free windows, but that happens whether you lay it down or not. I also always run it standing up.
Yes sam, my system is a 5-stage RO/DI RHG cart. It’s got both, a 40’’ RO membrane and 40" DI cartridge, so when I lay it down, the whole thing lays down for transport. You should have 1-1 ratio of waste water to product water for best results as far as I know.
