Question for any chemists and self-taught fluid engineers alike:
Has anybody made their own glide/wetting additives for their cleaning solution?
I’m fairly new to the window cleaning trade, but I have been into vinyl records my whole life. Awhile back (before I even considered window cleaning), I made my own record cleaning solution. Ironically, it was just Dawn, distilled water, AND a surfactant called Tergitol. The Tergitol helped the water tension break, allowing the solution deeper into the grooves for cleaning.
There are other similar products available (Triton X100, etc) and a lot of it was used in photo processing, archival cleaning, etc. Quantities can be had for a decent price.
I know I could just buy premade solutions, but this might save a little cost…plus I like tinkering. Born to clean, I guess.
