Does anyone carry a gun here?

On a lawn forum that I’m on, they are always talking about guns and if you believe them it seems like a third of them have a concealed carry gun permit, whatever it’s called. So many hard core republicans in lawn care, you should see all the avatars of Obama with big ears etc. now after a while on this forum I’m beginning to wonder if most window cleaners in the states are leftys.

Being from Canada, I don’t think i’ve seen a hand gun in my life except in a cops holster. Lots of shot guns though. I wish I had a hand gun actually, I’d probably get a luger:cool:

I worked with some gun “enthusiasts” ~15 years ago, and before I knew it, I had a Ruger 22 (varmint), Glock 17 (9), and a Colt 1918 (45)! Never carried, though – only target.

You would be surprised how many people are carrying here in the US - probably even more so in the south.

I have used my pressure washer wand at night to deter some thugs though. A zero degree nozzle at 3000 psi and 200 degree heat sure would hurt.

I don’t have one, don’t really need one. Used to tho, and I will tell ya its harder to hit a target with a handgun than a rifle.

The way I see it, if I am taken by suprise in my home there is no way I will be fast enough to get, load and use the weapon anyway.
Not that I do not defend myself, I do, but there are things much more effective than a gun…and much less dangerous.
Just my opinion.

I don’t own a gun because I own…

I once threatened a dog with a weed whacker. I was like “you try it buddy”.

The carrying laws seem to be a little more relaxed in the south. I have a friend who moved to NC and in months he had an arsenal.
In NJ its almost imposable to have a carriers permit. Although over the border in PA its pretty easy to carry.

I was helping a guy out down here cleaning, look in his back seat to get some equipment, and he’s packing a sawn off rifle or shotgun. He tells me that, he cut it down to the maximum that you could and still be legal.

I have a concealed weapons permit in Florida

I think if I was an american I wouldn’t bother concealing it. I’d stick it in the bucket on the belt and go from there.

Alex is correct.

It takes about 15 minutes to get your permit in PA.

They even print it on the spot now.

I actually though it wasn’t possible to get a concealed license here at all. No guns for me in general. I do however have a machete in my trunk at all times though, God forbid the need to ever use it.

yep

In michigan we dont need a permit as long as its in a holster and not conceled.

Is Detroit in Michigan? A while back murder was out of control in Winnipeg. We had newspaper headlines like “Murder Capitol” etc. we had the highest murder rate in Canada at 4 people per 100,000… then someone compare us to Detroit which was at 44 per 100,000. 10 times more then us, LOL.

Obviously relaxed gun laws do NOTHING to ease violent crime.

We have had a decrease in violent crimes and property crimes since the permitting process was made uniform in the State

Back in the early 90’s we used to clean a slew of credit unions that had some locations in very bad parts of town. back then we didnt have the concealed carry law that we have now. One credit union branch was in a neighborhood surrounded by drug dealers and vacant crack houses. My brother and I always joked that we need to get uniforms that said “NO CASH ON WINDOW CLEANERS” when we would work in that part of town!

Well I am the only one of our team (5) that does not have a concealed weapons permit. Sons of cops and Military boys so they are extremely gun friendly. AR15 to dearingers in the stash.

I purchased my grandfathers guns years ago when he was selling them to keep them in the family, so I sleep on top of 15 rifles or so.

Myself, not much of a gun fan, but do not have an issues with them or people who love em.

Our company dinner this holiday season will be to skip the meal and go to a gun range, the guys will enjoy that more.

I carry a .40 cal Taurus with me and keep a 9mm assault rifle with a 15 round clip by the bedside, and I live in a safe town. Some of you will not like this but I didn’t have any guns until our city took in a bunch of refugees from Katrina and then we had a spike in crime for a few months until they were relocated.
