Does your employee clean the trucks?

Or do you pay an auto detailer? If the employee does it, how do you compensate? Is he still on hourly when he’s at the yard cleaning the truck?

My guys wash and vacuum their company vans once a week, usually on the weekend.

My crew leaders take their vans home every night, don’t have to worry about paying for gas to get to work, all I want in exchange is the van to sparkle.

I put together a “Company Vehicle Agreement” for them which spelled everything out.

Im actually thinking of starting that this year, having one of my guys, stay on clock and wash van maybe once a week. So I dont have to do it on weekend.

This

All trucks get get inspected every morning. If one cigarette but, food wrapper, gatorade bottle is found the supervisor from that truck will be in on Sunday to detail all the trucks.

The trucks usually stay pretty clean.

I’ll bet they do, wow!

That sounds more like keeping it tidy, though, Chris. Do your employees wash/detail them too?

Now that idea sounds good, just a few minutes ago I left the office, the truck was unlocked, 2 gorilla ladders, tanks, and tool box left in the bed.

And gps on the dash…

That is gonna end right now.

My first boss with a 15 man crew made us wash them before we got paid friday… usually worked sat half day cash… shhh

if I were fortunate enough to be driving a company vehicle I’d feel obligated and be happy to keep that thing shining, as to maintain the image of a professional cleaning service. Make 'em clean it.

The really big carpet cleaning company I worked at washed the trucks EVERY day. Image is everything. Truck stockers, highschool kids, washed the trucks and restocked them every night. Cheaper than paying the men to do it.

I wash my van, but there’s only so much soap and water can do. Maybe I need to move to a better neighborhood.
