I paid for Don’s trip to Nola this year 2012 in exchange for 3k worth of website work. I covered Don and his wifes airfare, hotel and taxi costing me appx $1200. He built me a cheesy website and then did no follow up work as promised.
I received a phone call several months ago from a lady that Don stole thousands of dollars from promising website work. He never even started. After several months of trying to get hold of him she finally contacted the authorities. I also started calling and leaving messages and sending emails. No response. After contacting the authorities they went to his home and threatened criminal charges. He is alive and well and has started making payments to her.
I’m posting this to reach out to anyone that attended Nola. If he stole from you, stay tuned as I’ll be posting the authorities contact info soon as she calls me with it.
Sorry to hear about this for both of you Justin. I guess Don Marler of Marler’s Pressure Washing in St. Louis, MO hasn’t been able to apply what was taught at NOLA or else he should have made enough money to pay you back. Did you see any of his previously designed websites before you agreed to that arrangement? It appears he or his company might be having as much problems with their pressure washing services in the St. Louis area, his BBB rating is an F.
I’m partially at fault for being so gullible. Don Marler of Marler’s Pressure Washing St. louis, Mo seemed like a nice guy. I thought the deal was fair and I would help him out by getting him to New Orleans. I’m learning now there were others besides the woman and myself he stole from.
Even worse my website wasn’t hosted thru the company I suggested (Customer Factor) but it was hosted thru one he had an account with. He stopped paying his bill and now it’s froze and they can’t do anything until he contacts them. Does it get worse? Why yes it does - He purchased the domain name  All this website stuff I’m learning more and probably deserve this for being stupid enough to not buy the domain myself. Expensive learning curve huh.
Shame on you Don Marler at Marler’s Pressure washing…
Now Justin, Maybe Don Marler at Marler’s Pressure Washing in Gray Summit, MO had good intentions of doing you right, and has fallen ill and can’t return your calls or emails or those of everyone else that feels he’s done them wrong. Maybe this isn’t anyone’s fault? Right, Don Marler? Please tell everyone who reads this, including all potential clients in the Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois areas that your company offers Roof cleaning, house washing, pressure washing, wood deck cleaning, sealing, and staining, gutter cleaning, holiday lighting, and company fleet washing to that you and your company would never refuse to return calls and make sure that each business transaction you agree to is completed to the utmost satisfaction of each client or that you’d never take/keep their money! Right?
Perhaps he doesn’t read the posts here on WCR since his website doesn’t mention Window Cleaning, and this should be posted on the Pressure Washing forums… or you could ask him nicely to give you your money back here on his Facebook page, Justin.
Justin, very sorry to hear that. You’re not the only one that falls in the same trap (not talking about Don Marler particularly) but in general. A lot of these scu*mbags promise a lot and how they will do everything for you, until they take your money, then you’re at their mercy.
And to think I actually sent this guy some house washing work, before I added this service myself.
If you’re a homeowner in the St Louis area looking for house washing, pressure washing, gutter cleaning or window cleaning services, give me a call @314.222.0527 and I will be glad to work with you. You won’t even have to pay if you’re not completely satisfied. As a matter of fact, I will give you 20% off if you mention this thread/forum post. :)
Uh oh. Thad?
Chris, isn’t there a way to post threads from here onto the Pressure Washing forums? I’m pretty sure I used to see that done on The Grime Scene or the Pressure Washing Institute forum. Looked like it was directly being posted by WCR. Was I dreaming?
Mirnes - It seems like whenever there’s an injustice done to me (two this year), I learn things and it makes me stronger than ever before. This was a $1200 mistake, but something I learned from it may make me rich someday. As mad as I should be, I’m excited about my future.
Shame on you Don Marler “marler’s pressure washing st. louis”
What an a-hole. Every SEO and web job I’ve done, I made sure the client owned the domain and hosting before i continued.
It makes ABSOLUTE SENSE to the SEO person to do that! I don’t want a call every month for the next 30 years reminding me to pay the dang hosting.
Its becoming a trend here, and other places. I hate seeing good people getting screwed like this. Although I have NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER in doing any more SEO work for other window cleaners, or anyone at all for that matter (don’t even ask), I do think i’m gonna write up a blog post / list of things to look for / protecting yourself when doing biz with an SEO person type deal, maybe it’ll help someone avoid dealing with a sh!tbag like Don Marler at Marler’s Pressure Washing in Gray Summit, MO Pressure Washing Company Missouri Power Washer Roof Cleaning Fleets Decks Houses in the future.
Good luck Justin and Thad, its just unfair.
Does mentioning his name and company name move these posts up on the list when some one does a search on Don?
It’s a serious question, it should come as no surprise to anyone that I’m a little behind the curve with some of this computer stuff.
Dale
Nothing worse than a thief ! Only if life was like the good ole western days … You screw up you either got shot or hung !
( Well , From the TV shows it looked great ) lol
Ya know the excuse I like the best? “It’s just business.” As if conducting business operated with different rules than living the rest of your life.
I have no reason to doubt or question anyone or anything stated here, but I don’t know Don and so my comment is not directed towards him. Or anyone else for that matter.
Dale.
lol, the links are nofollow but im sure the keywords are going to give this thread some love.
dont know the guy so i wont say anything that may get me into trouble, never know
if he has a lawyer that may file defamation because of this thread.
people like this deserve to be exposed out in public but at the end of the day unless im gonna take legal action
I think that it should just be forgotten about and move one. karma has a good way of catching up with those kind of people,
besides i wouldnt want to deal with the added stress. I had a boss that collapsed on the job and died
of a heartattack, granted he was in his 60’s but you could just see the stress he had to deal with
everyday as a business owner and it got to him.
Kudos dhwc, to forgive is not sissified bull****, it is not giving someone a free pass. It is not about anyone else but you. It is about you taking care and control of yourself, it is about letting go of some toxic crap and moving on. Right now is the time to focus on where you are going and the positive things happening in your life. You will sleep better, trust me.
I got burned by him too for about $1000.00. He doesn’t respond to calls or email, when I get some free time I plan on disputing via PayPal. I’d like to hear about any other legal remedies.
