Door Hangers?

For those of you using door hangers, do you walk on the grass between homes or up and down the driveways and sidewalks?

We have been strictly driveways and sidewalks so far but a friend who has passed flyers door to door says grass all the way.

Also, how do you handle no soliciting signs? Door hanger then anyway?

What does the mail carrier do? A lot of miles can be walked passing out door hangers, short cuts work.

No Soliciting sign means don’t knock on the door; hang it and walk to the next one. No Trespassing is another matter.

I never walk across a lawn. People don’t like that. They may not be home when ur vcutting across their lawn but guaranteed a neighbour will have eyes on you and it reflects poorly on you.

The clients in my target area would call their private security to come. They’d point out the bent grass on their perfectly manicured lawn and then escort me out of town.

That’s the long version of saying stay off anything that’s not meant for your feet. You’re not a paper boy, you’re a professional.

Only on designated walkways. Period. No excuses.

And although I tend to canvas a neighborhood and hit every door. I’ve heard that the five around is truely the best houses to put a hanger on and anything after that is usually a waste of time

Ok that was my thought as well. He was essentially delivering a paper not something representing his specific business. I live in a nice sub and would not be thrilled with someone walking on my grass. Designated walkways will stay the rule for our company.

On the plus side I have gotten three estimates and booked two other jobs in about three hours worth of door hangers. These were just from people that I actually spoke to while walking around. Now hopefully I start getting done calls off the hangers.

… We don’t even have lawns here, just rocks and dirt and I still don’t walk across the yard. If a subdivision has a ‘no soliciting’ sign I usually pay no attention to it, but if someone has one on their door I go away.

I walk around. I’d hate for someone to get mad cuz im walking on the grass. Also it keeps me visible and I dont freak anyone out.

If a area I market gets crazy because I stepped on some grass and bent a few blades then I am sure that that area is gated and gets my direct mail anyway.
I look for mail men ( ok ok mail PERSONS) and note where they walk.
Also since I door hang early weekday mornings fast and furious I never run into anyone.
I guess if they are gonna be mad cuz I walked on their grass to doorhang, just imagine how mad they will be when their grass gets bent from washing windows…
I guess I could do a " GRASS STRAIGHTENING" add on service
Hmmmmmm…
