I hate double hungs, which are the majority of windows out here, because the locks prevent me from squeegeeing the bottoms properly on the top sash. I was thinking of not fanning them anymore and straight pulling downward instead so that i can tuck the rubber behind the lock. Any suggestions?
Annoying window…skip it…
Just side pull and detail the bottom edge with your dry towel.
Flip the towel over itself a couple times and run behind the locks. Fact of life
Ah ok…that’s basically what i do…was just hoping there was a better way.
Actually, one trick i chanced on yesterday was to open the locks half way so they face you. It at least allows the squeegee to get a bit closer on the side pull.
If you cut/dogear your squeegee you can get pretty close. Then just use a towel edge to get back there.
That’s exactly what I do. Also, as long as you do inside first, you can barely open the lower tilt-in sash to give yourself even more clearance. But ultimately you’ll want to get to where you use less and less water on your mop to reduce the amount of detailing needed around the locks. For example, I always wet the bottom sash first to get some water off of my mop and then wet the top.
Just lift up a little bit as your passing the lock back down again , rag it , An on to the next… An one , an 2 lift up , An complete. Good job take a breathe, Annnnnn repeat.
There it is. ^^^ I think it’s more important to just do it quickly and move on. Don’t put a second thought into it
Yep. Detail. Lickity split.
