Dry Fit Polo Shirt question

I have a friend in sales. He occasionally has to work in the field and wears a company t-shirt instead of his normal polo. He says it makes a big difference in how people perceive him. He feels that a polo gives you presence and an aire of authority where as a t-shirt gives you a bottom tier worker presence and garners less respect.

That is 100% accurate in my experience as well.

If thats the way to get a better response from clients, then why not wear dress slacks and a button down shirt or even a suit for meeting new clients…

That’s actually why i have two uniforms…a sales uniform consisting of my polo and khakis, and a work uniform consisting of Dickies and a tee.

I decided to drop the sales uniform and just show up in clean work clothes, but as mentioned, I’ve been debating on making the polo part of my work uniform. After everyone’s input i think it’s the way to go.

Take it one step further… dress slacks white button down and a vest a bow tie and a fedora, bring some style to the game!!

When I first got into business for myself I picked up a handful of overnight cleaning accounts for office buildings. Always wore a suit and tie to meet with the building owners and property management. Even though I’d get funny comments like ā€œWow you dress nice for a janitorā€ I know it went a long way to promoting my image in a professional setting.

Window bidding I dress differently. Most of my bidding is conducted during the workday, sometimes even in between jobs. So my work uniform pulls double duty and is a compromise between comfort and class. I wear a long sleeve polo with my name and company embroidered on the breast, with khaki cargo pants and black sneakers. I think khakis (Even though they are super casual cargo pants) show a deliberate choice and look more like a uniform than jeans or shorts.

Don’t tempt me!

If it produced more revenue then why not?

If it increases your bottom line then by all means … do it.

There used to be someone around here that wore a tie while cleaning

Polo shirt definitely makes a difference ive been using aramark/wearguard for 30 years for quality. Although lately polo shirts running too big and baggy,we ask all our route and inside men to wear them. I use them as owner as well as the police style shirt with collar and pocket in cool weather for estimates and meetings. My chair men like polos to reduce friction from harnesses, too
