cut him loose.
When I did training at the big carpet cleaning company I would know the guy wasn’t going to work out the first or second day on the job. I would tell the boss he’d pass the guy around the company for a second opinion and let them go early if other lead techs were in agreement. If they’re not a worker it is very easy to pick up on. If they have half a brain that’s easy to spot as well. You can’t fix stupid and lazy people are, well… just lazy. You can’t train it out of them. JMHO
I take it this guy is gone by now. I did not read the entire thread but it’s from June 09. Heck I would like to think he is gone. Mike I agee though. You can tell if someone is a worker or not, pretty quick. I never judge the 1st week cause I always feel a new hire is at their best the 1st week. After that their true colors start to show.
The true colors come around the 90 day mark in my experience. It’s gets hard to fake it more than a couple months or so. My old boss learned the hard way not give people to many second chances. They are who they are. If they didn’t learn IT in childhood it’s usually to late.
Yeah, he was out a week after or maybe a day after I posted this.
My mindset was COMPLETELY wrong, my attitude wrong, my outlook wrong and frankly the way I ran my business was wrong too.
I was too much into feeling for the other guy, trying to be understanding etc…and of course it is always needed, not to the degree that I gave it.
I had to learn that in order for people who I work with to change, I needed to change first. Now I have that step complete. People who do not change with me are out. They can always be replaced.
Hey Tory. I don’t completely know the rules on employees using their own vehicles to do your work, but I believe as another brought out you’d want to have coverage on your policy. If something happens while they’re “on the clock” you’d be responsible for it in my understanding and also yes, some compensation would be fitting for them using their personal vehicles.
I actually asked this more out of curiosity than experience. Sorry if I got you too worried. I just figured I would always have my vehicle(s) driven so there’s no question concerning that.
Well, now you got me thinkin. I always thought that as long as they are not on the property, like parked on the street, that it didnt matter.
