Cool good luck! If you see Elway tell him the better team won.

You never know what you will get, you would be surprised - as a pool cleaner I did Michael Irvin’s home… Cool guy.

How did your eddm campaign work. Would love to hear about your rio
I just did my first neighborhood last week with EDDM. 1200 homes and I only had one call so far. This was a nice gated community with wealthy residents. What kind of neighborhoods do you target? Whats your call back rate? And how often do you hit each neighborhood?

Capcod… I also hit the larger homes in gated communities. It pretty much failed. I had about 25 calls and only landed about 7 jobs. I am new to Denver Colorado and there seems to be a lot of low ballers here. So I lost all of my bids to these low ballers. Most of the houses I was bidding on had around 150 panes of glass or 75 windows. My bid was is the 800 or 900 dollar range and the low ballers price was in the 350 to 450 range. So now I just hit average homes in the non gated communities that have 20 to 25 windows and seem to get a lot of those bids.

So your advice is to stay away from big ticket homes and focus on the average ones? Interesting, I would have figured the ROI would be better on the big ones because you can charge more for the same amount off calls. But obviously thats not working for me. I think my next neighborhood to canvas will be a retirement community. Would that be smarter?

To be honest, it all depends on your area and if you have low balling companies doing those big homes. Most rich people want something for nothing in my opinion. I am staying away from this big homes for now.

This has me really worried. I was about to invest my rent money in fliers to EDDM via the post office, but not I’m having second thoughts. I’m a first year window cleaner, and am very detail-focused just like Starbrite.
I’m still working for a company here in Boulder, but it seems things slowed down after the first snow and this has me concerned.
Any advice from veterans as to how to land even 1 job a week? So far, word of mouth has been best, but it’s on and off. I get maybe 1-2 jobs a month for myself at this point.
Best bet is hand out flyers door to door if you can not afford EDDM.
Personally I like to focus on homes with 20-40 windows .

Don’t spend your rent money on Eddm! You can print 1000 black and white flyers for $30. Passing out flyers and mailing Eddm both involve risk. One just costs way less. Be careful with money you can’t lose.
I need to hire a marketing specialist at some point. I know what I need to do, I just don’t know how to go about it. I’ve given stacks of business cards to people who rave about my detail and friendly demeanor, but it’s been a waiting game for the phone to ring. Maybe I’ll get a haircut and wear my favorite light khakis and blue button up and knock on doors. Residential and stores. Honestly, I dislike canvassing more than the person that slams the door on me, but if it means putting food on the table…
Thank you for the ideas and advice. This is stressful as the season comes to a close. I’m going to focus on gutters as the deciduous leaves begin to fall.
I recommend door hangers , it’s a good start for canvassing resi

… Often I can make more $/hr on medium size homes than on the really big ones and they tend to be easier to get. As for retirement communities it varies. Some are real low-rent places for folks on a fixed income so they may not be able to afford much.
… Definitely agree. Should be no problem landing 1-2 jobs a week if you have the time to cover a few hundred homes a week.
… Keep reading the threads here and save yourself a boatload of $ on a marketing specialist.
Particularly at the stage you are in now.
Handing out business cards and waiting for the phone to ring is not the way to go.
I too cringe at the idea of going door to door which is why I use mostly eddm.
If what is needed is getting a haircut and wearing a “uniform” definitely do it. A good image while putting out fliers
has a far better chance of getting you jobs than a scruffy one. When no one knows you and you have no reputation yet
for quality work, image is everything. Even better than a smokin’ deal.
