I am having some trouble and need some advice from those of you who have done your own EDDM…I downloaded a postcard template from WCRA for my EDDM this year. I got it all edited and ready to put the print order in with WCRA. This is my first year doing EDDM, and though my research I discovered I need to put a USPS indicia (the little square box in the corner where the stamp goes, says postage paid, all that stuff). Does it need to be a certain size? Do I need to include one of those “local postal customer” stamps where the address goes? I planned on using the WCRA at cost printing service, I don’t suppose that their printing service takes care of that stuff do they? I’m having some trouble with it.
Ok first your downloaded a flyer, not a postcard. All the postcards already have the indica built in. Not a big just explaining the difference.
Let me address at cost printing service, because this is important. They do not view, edit, make sure everything is ok, any of that. Part of the reason it’s so cheap. They can’t afford to check everyone’s files at the price they offer. Now WCR does have an edit service that can handle everything for you, have used it at least a dozen times with no problems. Just throwing that out.
As far as this indica is concerned these are the rules straight from the post office
How to properly use the EDDM Retail Indicia:
Place the EDDM Retail Indicia in the upper right hand corner of the mail piece.
Leave 1/8" space from top and right edge.
Should fit in the area 1.625" from the right edge and 1.375" from top edge.
No specific size requirement, but must be larger than .5" x .5".
Font must be in all caps and minimum 4 point size.
Basically you can one of 2 things to make your life easier. Either copy one of the internet, google search, or download a postcard file from WCRA and rip the indica from there.
Yes just put local postal customer and you’ll have no problem.
Just do a google search for the indicia and the postal customer stamps. copy and paste onto your card. I don’t know the exact specs it needs to be but I just put it on there so it’s big enough to read easily and it looks proportional to the card. I’ve never had an issue with our eddm.
Thank you, that does help. The post card I downloaded (6.5x9) doesn’t have the indicia, but I checked the 8.5x11 size and they do so I may just use those ones instead, save myself some headache. I could take an indicia from the internet but paste it on to my smaller postcards, but I am brand new to photoshop and have no idea if the size would be right. I pretty much only know how to plug my own information into the cards. But yes, thank you very much for clearing that up for me!
