I have looked over all of the requirements for EDDM, and the sizing is/can be a little confusing.
“more than 11 1/2 inches in length OR more than 6 1/8 inches in height OR more than 1/4-inch thick.”
So what size do you guys typically use? And can’t the length and height be used interchangeably, or does the format of the text need to correspond with one or the other? (does that make sense?)
I just sent out 6.5 x 8…what they do is put the shortest side on a template which becomes your height. and the longest will become your length. if one or the other exceeds the min, then it will pass. Be sure to ad 1/8" on each side for bleeding when you design it.
6.25 x 9 was the smallest card I could send. I could very well have received poor directiom from the post
master but I don’t think so.
I did not want to spend the money for a full size postcard. For me the size I sent is perfect Plus with the money saved in a slightly smaller postcard I could have more funds to purchase and send more cards.
From my understanding 6.25 x 9 and 8 x 6.5 is a standard size which will be cheaper when getting printed…they both exceed the 6.125 requirement of the post office. when I got my quote, the printer couldn’t find the 6.5x8 but did find it listed under 8x6.5 go figure.
My other issue is, I was considering becoming a WCRA member for the postcard designs, but 4x6 is too small and 8.5x11 is too big. More expensive printing costs as well as not being a fan of the size. Something that big stuffed in the mailbox. Do you 6x9 printers just have someone design up a card?
You need photoshop to edit the postcards. In photoshop you can resize the card to meet the size you need. You can also pay to have WCR edit them for you.
That’s what I thought, but she said that one piece of paper that you print up also that has the route on it and a bunch of gridded lines you can just fill it out on that.
Plus with a big sharpie write the route on the side of the box
