Educating Customers WFP

WFP is so new, the general public don’t understand it, and so customers need to be educated so it doesn’t look “like I’m taking a hose to the windows” or “just rinsing them off.” Showing a positive end result is not good enough. I am handing out a document explaining why we use WFP, how it works and the benefits that are passed onto the customer.

What do you do to educate customers so they don’t think there getting ripped off ?

I have not made the transition yet to WFP and was wondering what are the solutions with WFP when you encounter…very stubborn dried paint, stain, silicone, sap…etc. Will WFP remove these items without climbing a ladder?.. or do you have to break out the razor and squeegee to fix these situations we all run into from time to time on residential and commercial applications?

We have been using WFP for over 4 years and only now started sharing a printed explanation on high gloss paper. The PS file from wcra is great!
But really We only give this to new customers. I enjoy explaining to customers how this modern (not new) UK technology, though costly to invest in, provides a better and safer service. 99.9% of our customers love it. Many are so impressed by it they make sure we use pure water when we come back for another scheduled cleaning

I would search the forum, many many threads with these questions answered. To be brief, pure water removes “organic” material, not paint, silicone or stains. There are techniques and tools you can add to your pole to remove such things. However these should also cost more than a regular clean to remove anyway.

Most customers will internalize their complaints and then then window cleaner will never see business from them again. I remember a couple customers had told me the last window cleaner “just takes a hose to the windows.” Being a new WFP’s, now I see whats going on!

I don’t believe that, sorry. If you explain what your doing before you start the job and why, no issue. It’s all in how it’s presented, those other wc’s must not have explained the ‘value’ of pure water.

… Or maybe they really did just rinse them off with a hose…

… I haven’t really found the need for any significant pre-use education. Most of the time folks don’t really care how i get their windows clean.
Sometimes they see me using a wfp and they are totally fascinated by it, so I tell them all about it. A few others have been skeptical in seeing me use the pole even when I tell them about it but the results nip that in the bud pretty quick. I have only had two people ask me not to use it, one because another cleaner used a wfp and she said his hose left black marks all over the drive and patios. Another didn’t want it because the live in a home where all the siding is stained/treated wood and they are worried about damage. No problem to me, I just charge accordingly and do my work.

Those WFP hoses are possibly as destructive as a feather.
I’m really curious as to how a hose could leave black marks on stone, do you know how that happened or avoid it ?

Nothing ! When I leave the windows look 100 x better then they did before i got there . If they ask me before how are you cleaning my windows I say I have every tool available to clean windows .

When your done what’s it matter what you use or how you clean then
I am the professional I know how to get them clean .

Also if you present your company ( I’m not saying you don’t ) in a professional way . Shirts , estimates , equitment , personality , then do a great job the day of I don’t think they will worry about how you cleaned there windows.

… My guess is that it was not the wfp hose but a black rubber (not poly) garden hose
that made the marks. I use that kind of garden hose because it never kink and holds
up really well in the sun. It does however leave marks on concrete.

I guess I’m replacing my new hose…

For long distance access jobs where I need over 300 feet I break out my reel of 400 feet of red Goodyear hose. This will leave a mark on some surfaces as it’s heavy and has a soft outer layer.

Thanks

I believe if customers are questions what tools you are using to perform a job, you are not presenting your self as a true professional.

People see weakness and it creates fear in them. Present yourself with confidence and your customers or clients will have confidence in you.

lol

Well said Steve . So true .

Ok, so I will just be confident and make sure I only hire the most confident people before anyone else and everything will go smoothly for now on and people will think only good things about service operations no matter what. I think this post is done, case closed. Thank you.
