i do not, if they want more cleanings they order more very few res customers want inside more than 1 per year and for outs not many want more than 2.

I’ve been on here as a member for 3.5 years and lurking for 4.5 years and did not know that!

If they want a cleaning more often than every 6 months, I’ll knock off 10% possibly, but only if they ask and are nice. If they are just being “cheap”, I don’t want to deal with that kind of client, no discount.

I’m busy enough at this point, if they don’t schedule, someone else will, so I’m not keen to toss out discounts any more. I did it in my first year, and regretted it later when it was clear there were nice customers that are happy to pay for premium work.

I just do an exterior window for $5. That way if it is a casement or double hung, $5 is fair to the customer and me. If it has individual cut ups then I figure those at $1 per pane (6 top and 6 bottom = $12). Sorry, those are a pain because the edges and corners collect dirt. That makes a 15 pane French door $30 inside and out. I have a few customers with really large windows with cut ups. Some total $24 - $36 one side.
Tracks get added to the window price as do screens where needed. I don’t itemize that for them, I just include it in the whole price that I give them; Like: “Here is what I will do and this is the price.” So yea, in and out base price is $10 per window and can go up from there.

I have to be honest this looks so complicated cuz you’re trying to award a price to every window based on its exact measurements and type. Why not just say every window’s going to average out $6.50 a pain inside and out $4 outside only add $2 a window for ladder work. This whole custom price for every style of window would make me pull my hair out

I agree with you. Simple is best, especially because most of my customers are older folks.

My phone quote usually goes like this:

“For the average size single story window, we charge $xx each, but if there are tiny windows or something very difficult to clean, I’d adjust and quote you fairly before I start cleaning them”

I’ve found that 95% of the people that hear this will go ahead and book without asking for an in-person quote. And most of the people that call me are from referrals, so they already trust that I will be fair since their friend or neighbor said so as well.

you have a good system, every area can be so different, older/newer/true panes/inside screens/outside screens as a standard

I laughed when trying flat rate pricing way back, the ones who would book were the ones who had everything that was out of the typical that the flat rate was based on! you show up and just go really??? no wonder you liked the price

some areas every home is “individual” meaning you could have any style, any type, any height, any age home

some areas have just “popped up” in recent years and are more homogenous, that’s why it’s definitely not apples to apples on here when talking nationally, each area could be radically different in makeup of architecture, window style and type, and age

i mean some areas still have homes from the 40’s and before with old style glazing on the french panes, wood framed screens with hooks on bottom inside the screen, radically different from hundreds of tract homes with all the same last 10 year window mfr, vinyl framed, outside screens tat come out easily from outside and dual pane units

Modern single/double hung $12-$15 depending on extension ladder use, palladiums $20+. Includes sills, in/out and screens.

I no longer do storm windows, money to be made elsewhere…aka pressure washing.

could you email me your pricing guide as well? i am somewhat new but have been pricing windows kind of the same since november 2021 when i started but feel like i am charging too little now. thanks!
