First time WFP use today and am a little worried

I had my first experience today with a DI system and WFP. I can honestly say I am a little nervous on wehter I wasted $5000.00

First of all I worked at my house to work out the bugs ( thank God ) I bought the system used , but in great condition. It came with a Tucker pole and a 40’ pole ( not quite sure what kind ) the set up was easy and the water level was at 240 to start and down to 0 with out problem.

As I started, I began to woner if I have the correct brushes? they seem to bea little course . Is a softer brush better? I noticed i was having problems getting to the corners and 90% of the window looked great but had some major runs from the top frame ( wood ) Needless to say this scared me.

Do I need a hogs hair ? how do I get the corners? Is the goose neck a must have ? ( i was using one )
bought it with the intent to do more commercial… but obviously would love to use it on homes.

Thanks for your help!

Rest easy, there’s just a learning curve. When you first used a squeegee, were you as good at it as you are today? The WFP is the same way - it’s not a magical, you just need some practice with it.

You may need to order a new brush head. They’re not overly expensive. Hogs hair are good, but so are some of the monofilament or nylon brushes. You’ll also want to have both fan and pencil spray jets for your different kinds of glass. If you were having problems getting into the corners this may help.

Goosenecks are not always needed, but usually the only way to clean with a WFP if there are certain ledges or other objects in the way of getting the proper angle for cleaning.

Just slow down !! Rince ! Rince and rince !! Some times the paint bleeds first time !! Ask you self how long with a squegge ?? Ya !! You can touch up with the 40 fter with a fixey clamp and towel !! Stan

HiFlo CarbonTec Brush 11" ----- this is the brush I have now… it almost seems like it is to course. What hogs hair would you suggest?

Thanks

Here is a video showing a very thorough technique.

Wood is the hardest window frame to get good results from.

I was waiting for that answer. All I seem to do is wood frames where I live. Vinyl is a rarity in the city. Good to know.

Unless the wooden window frames have been maintained well I will usually squeegee those versus the WFP. If the wooden frames have not been painted regularly, the wood can become soft and rotten, and can even flake off. Infact, if the windows are this bad, I will usually pass on it altogether.

From Facebook

Rudy HugoI am in the same place with one commercial job and 3 houses. What I have learned is to take your time washing and be careful not to get above window and as a previous post, Rinse, rinse, rinse. I was nervous but now see the results. In some cases it is not faster, however when you can wash frames and windows, all looks great when finished. Today I … Read Moredid 80 windows outside with cutups and some straight glass plates, in 4.25 hours. I cannot imagine how long to ladder and wash that by hand. Six french doors of 15 panels in about 5 mins. And they came out perfect! You will get there!

Hey Micah,

I am curious about this…“You’ll also want to have both fan and pencil spray jets for your different kinds of glass”.
Can you give some details about that? Were you talking about hydrophobic and hydrophilic glass?

Thanks!!

Exactly Brian,

In general, a pencil jet will clean hydrophilic quicky, because the water will “sheet” off the glass.

For hydrophobic glass, fan jets will be needed, since the water tends to bead, and will hardly roll off the glass in extreme cases.

We have both in every brush!

Phil,
What does this mean? What question were you answering? This happens frequently. I ask because I am new and trying to learn as much as possible and want to be able to follow the flow of the thread.
Is this just and ad for your S**Pole?

Its a thread from September. I asked Phil in another thread to at least quote the post he is answering when he hawks the spampole.

lol:d

So that’s what spam looks like…

Yes, and it must be STOPPED!

Are these attachments to the pole or a pressure washer?
