First WFP Job

Well I finally landed my first job that was perfect for a WFP. Went with the 45’ Tucker pole for price reason’s and it is what I used at the company I use to work for. Had all my equipment and spoke with Culligan about a week before the job was to be done. The sales guy told me to just give them the heads up when I was going to be picking up the tank. He confirmed they always had the tanks instock and just wanted to know ahead to have it out and ready to move. Well I call them an hour before I was going to be there to find out they have no record of me and no one would be able to fill my order for a few hours. So I show up and the sales guy tells me they have no fittings to convert the tank into standard water hose settings. After about 45 minutes of waiting they finally rig something up. So I get to the jobsite about 2 hours later than I wanted to.

This job has a 3rd story in the back but with me and 1 brand new guy (zero WFP experience and a few hours of traditional WC exp) it took about 9.5 hours to complete. Please feel free to post what you would charge for that amount of man hours and I might post what I actually charged. We did outside only of everything and the inside of the tall stairwell glass in the front (3 of them the larger one in the middle.

P.S. I have a few pictures I need to upload from a phone ill try to post them later.

Considering you MIGHT post what u charged, I’ll bite. The photo only showed a two story building. 3rd out back? And I was looking at wfp to save time?

My bad, I see it is in the back. Imajrk :stuck_out_tongue:

I would have charged $1200.00 for 9.5 man hours

I have been thru those headaches too my friend, but if I may offer some critisizim(?) that may give alittle peace to ya?
First off 9 man hours on your first WFP job may not be too accurate, I say that because you will probably cut that down alot when you have more time on that pole, plus its your first time on that job, you know how it is when you do it the first time it always takes longer just because youre constantly thinking of the best way to tackle that job.

Second, there should be another DI distributor in your area that works with window cleaners and auto detailers, call up some people and find out where they get theirs. You said you called a week out right? It might be better to call the day before the job as well. I have ran into that problem too, and I always remind them day before the job and I have a backup vendor too, just in case they cant help me.

Third-ALWAYS bring an extra brush, screws, hose fittings/valves and hose gaskets with you because your pole WILL fall at least once and crack the cast metal on your brush, you will lose screws, you will misplace hose fittings on the job, and gaskets fall off sometimes. There is no greater ruination of the day than having to leave and go to hydroscape or home depot for a stupid hose fitting! Yeah, I’ve done ALL those bonehead moves.

I charged 1100 for the Job. I should have made it clear it wasnt my first WFP job, rather my first since I went into business for myself. It took me an hour or so longer than I wanted on the inside areas due to how dirty they were. Now that they are clean and will be done twice a year I should save time on the next run.

well done ! you got the job done and survived the learning curve !
