Fixing Foggy Windows

Hi guys and gals,

I am starting to come across just a few too many windows with broken seals.

Who out here is a dealer for one of the window medic type companies?
Why or why haven’t you added this to you business?

I am very interested in this add-on as I think it might be the next big thing.

I know a guy in the O.C that does it you should call him and see what kind of investment it is. I tried to get in with him but he only uses Newport Window Maintenance. He said he was trained in Canada so I don’t think it’s this company http://www.theglassguru.com/about.html. Hey does or did your girlfriend work at Doppochic? The companies name is Wintech 949 548 3200

Thanks. I pass the name along.

No, my wife never worked there

I was doing some basic research online. It looks like some companies such as window medics charge anywhere from 10k to 30k to get you trained and started in this.

The only cheap options, if you can call it cheap, is http://wwwrepairfoggywindows.com

they have a package for $1700

I’ll be doing some research and pass on what I learn

repairing foggy windows is a scam.

In most cases the fog will come back.(the company that sold you the tools to repair the foogy windows offers no warranties, so if you charge a customer $250.00 to repair a window and the fog/haze comes back. they are out of luck, plus you have a ****ed off customer who might
drop your window cleaning service because they feel you ripped them off.)

by the way, to hire a glass company to come out and take out and replace the glass is only around $100.00 more than what you would charge to repair the glass(they have a warranty though)

I would suggest not to get into the window repair business.

stick to cleaning windows. you are a window cleaner, not a window repairman.

Is that the way you feel, or do you know that a good percentage of these valves don’t work? Did you do some valuable research on this?

By the way, I haven’t bought anything yet. (No tools or training), I don’t do anything without consulting my fellow “window cleaning resourcians”

I prefer the term “resourcionist”

Hi Kris,

yes i did do research on this, and i did contact a few companies that did do the service.

J raceeeee-ensteinn even had a company at one of there functions demonstrate the process. he even told me that there is no warranty.

You could probably make more replacing the pane. Hook up with a glass co to make the pane and you charge to install it.

Maybe instead you could try and see if the local window companies that install windows will give you a referral fee or finders fee. Then you can simply collect money by hooking the window company up with your client to replace their foggy windows.

Best idea yet!

If you talk to that guy from Wintech, he guarantees 20 yrs.

Phil has had some experience with this, here is a recent post on another forum. http://www.nationalwindowcleaningdirectory.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3877

If you are interested in fixing windows glass replacement is your best bet. However, I think most window cleaners have found it’s best not venture into this area (for whatever reason). Or they start another company which specializes in glass replacement and use their cleaning company for leads.

We have Crystal Clear in my area and I get their unsatisfied customers.

Never mind, it looks like he’s edited all his posts. The original gist was that he used these methods in his business and they didn’t work (more of an embarrassment than it was worth when they didn’t work out). According to him the success rate was minimal at best.

Just like i said earlier, i dont want to be a difficult or anything, but i told you so…

so if you’ve replied to a thread it should end right there. No more opinions after the all knowing rainbow brite has chimed in.
