I’ve been dealing with these windows in one or my cleaning accounts. They get cleaned once or twice a week. But once I fan them, you can see everywhere I’ve been with the squeegee. I used unger cleaner and the ettore. Both arnt doing the trick.
Anything I can try??
Hope that made since, it was the best way to describe it! Lol
Sometimes you’re better off just pulling all the way down the window, I’ve done this method on a couple stores and I’ve noticed I go faster than the 3/4 way down poling then fanning the bottom section
It happens on straight pulls as well. It’s the kind of fog that when you wipe your finger across the glass you can see where you just did it. I drove by this morning so see how it looks in sun light and it’s ok. But we clean these at night and the lights really show how they look. I can post pictures on sun when I head back up there. Have you guys ever use vinegar in a spray bottle and clean them old fashion. Then bring out your mop to clean
It is most likely the little areas on the glass where the hydrophobic properties “dry” the glass prior to pulling your squeegee across. Try a wetting agent, or move faster before the water beads off.
Is there Air-conditioner on inside? Could be condensation! . You said it looks good when you drive by it later . I don’t think the way you pull it is going to make a difference.
I know what your dealing with. I bet it only happens in direct sunlight right or on certain types of glass. Dish soap is the solution. I typically use only GG4 but you have to ditch it for dish soap now I always carry some for those just in case moments.
Thanks guys! It’s at a dentist office and well you can only see it when you get up to 5ft or so to it but I do them at night when were are there for the cleaning as well. In the lights you can see it big time but during he day it’s not so obvious. I use dish soap and see how it turns out. And I’m not letting the soap sit on the window at all I pull it right off. (Like any other window cleaning we do)
Ill check on to see if there’s a hvac supply next to the windows. See if the a/c is blowing moisture on the windows or maybe have some type of grease in there duck work. Thanks for the input guys. Ill try the dish soap)
I’ve had humidity cause this with GG4. A/C is cranking on the inside and sucks the moisture right to a freshly cleaned window where it sits and stays. sometimes a fresh rubber blade and a ‘hand fan’ (wave your hand to dry the glass) will evaporate the moisture.
It’s only happened to me at night when it’s warm.
curious to see how it turns out for you, try all options and let us know the results.
I had to ask the customer to turn off the air for a bit when it happened to me. It was a very hot and humid day with single pane glass. I couldn’t even tell if the glass was clean or not.
My 2 cent.
I have same problems. Tried every solution in book, Pull fan edge detail wipe edge huck cotton microfiber paper towel. What ever I f\do there is a sort of smudge, smear. Sometimes shinny or cloudy. There is always something. Try to wipe up drips, smudge. If smudge goes away where you wiped is something on the edge.
Come ON! I know how to clean but there are horrible. The couple I have are old so there has to be deterioration I would say almost a type 2 glass but the newer glass 1yr old??? I do know the silicone seal may be the culprit since these windows are baked in TX sun all day. Yes all my glass is hydrophobic. Used bronze wool method. I was thinking there was some silicone being drawn out which causes the shinny smears but could just be the glass is still way too hot. Then again. I clean when still shady, looks great until the sun hits it. then looks like I used a the hershey bar method.
It is similar to an interior windshield from a smokers car would be the type pain it is. I did find out that if I were to use a cleaner, any, they work for a bit but the mess appears so change up. Again it reappears. Is there a strip to clean down to the pores, micro cracks. I have started to clay bar it and only use a bit of purified water with a bit of denatured alcohol. Seems to help. Plus daily cleanings using an unger micro swipe and my WFP water only. Could be after 30 or so years the glass has had it. Ill try anything. Maybe a cream applied to an orbital buffer? Unless I can get an unruly band of thugs to throw rocks at me while I clean these… hmmmm… sort of not kidding.
Side note. I do know all these body lotions and creams are a problem. Folks use their entire bodies to open the doors smearing arms faces into glass to push doors open. This transferr is a culprit. Cleaning the glass conf table I found marks that spray wasnt taking up. Went to ammonia based. Actually went to get grafitti remover. The smudges came off but really! Might work on a glass top but dont see myself having to use that to clean door windows. Outside when the sun bakes it on…
I’ll try everything. Running out of ideas so ready for options.
Forgot. I am getting new hard rubber. Might be one of the culprits all along. Previous rubber was soft. Yes if humid dont clean, just as bad or worse than direct sun. Squeegee gets the big stuff but once you try to detail edge, its all over. Switched to WFP for outside so not a problem now. Might WFP the interior. Lobby is tile and since I do the floor work I can suck it and mop it up. Worth a try. They will let me do anything.
Your going to have a huge mess, Make sure you don’t get splash back onto the paint walls, trim,or any furniture or carpet., or your going to be painting or cleaning for hours.
I would not WFP the inside!!!
Ok here an update. I scribed the windows really good with dawn and pulled them clean. Yes they’ll looked good for a little but then came back 3 days later and they were smuggy again. The supply A/C are next to them and could be the problem I have one more thing I’m going to try (vinegar in a spray bottle and wipe clean then mop and squeegee.
If theat doesn’t work well looks like those windows are just gonna be they way they are! Lol
Thanks guys
Its all tile. I actually just opened the doors and did them. Not worried about floors. What most of you are to windows, I am to floors. Its helping but have since been using pure water, hand brush scrub and flush with spray bottle. Touch ups are going better now with the unger microfiber and spritz with a bit of water. No soaps or sprays at all. If the new rubber comes today, well see if it helps. so can just squeegee it. Won’t slide as good with just water but using just water is helping. It has to be due to the sun on those windows. The front gets sun but after noon no more direct light but the back doors get all the traffic. I wouldn’t WFP the inside.
There was a residue. Example squeegee the pane. Oh, a bit of liquid along edge. Use a good cloth and detail. Looks great no streaks. The next day you can see where the towel wiped. So whatever was in those window products was not reacting well with the glass. Took them out of the equation and they are getting better.
