Hey guys. We’re getting a WFP system in the next few weeks and we want to stretch its legs a little so we’re trying to go after some larger accounts. There are quite a few hospitals, medical campuses, schools, and other 3-5 story buildings in the area and I’m trying to figure out who I need to approach about these accounts. Our main focus right now are a couple local hospitals. Any advice on who we need to talk to about this? Thanks
I’ll be watching this thread closely.
Those are my future targets too, at least on my mind, but there’s a huge gym here, very upscale, that I’d gladly take for “less than normal” for the exposure that this would generate for my company.
Well I’m going to start making calls tomorrow so we’ll see where that takes us. I’ll keep you guys updated. I have high hopes about this even with the economy the way it is. We haven’t really been hurt by it but this season maybe different so we’re trying to open our options a bit.
I’d say if you’re talking storefront maybe, although Chris and Alex seem to do well w/ it. For the 3-5 story commercial stuff there aren’t alot of companies in that niche (at least in my area). Could pay off well for him.
well I made some calls today but nothing came of it. Left some voicemails and talked to one person who said she’d call me back. (nice way of saying no). So I’ll probably wait till Monday or Tuesday to try to contact those people again. In the mean time I compiled a list for tomorrow so we’ll see how that goes.
Have any of you guys had much success contacting hospitals and other large buildings such as schools or other 3-5 story buildings. If so what was your angle of attack and how did it pan out for you?
Why do you say not to do commercial. It seems that commercial window cleaning business would be the most repeat business out there. Granted you have to get more customers to make any decent money. Although if you live in an area with lots of business you could make a very good living. My recomendation would be to mix it up especially when residential is not in season depending on where you live.
Another source of commercial jobs are big janitorial firms. Quite often they subcontract out their window cleaning because they don’t want to deal with it or are not trained and equiped to handle it.
Propert Mgt firms are good repeat, but they seem to be the first to get squeemish. I’m constantly having to ‘skip the insides this time,’ or only do the first floor only, etc…
I’m currrently putting together a bid I got called about because I left a message on a property management companies machine. Cold calling can work, but I think having your website SEO’ed is the best way to go for getting mid-rise work. Most of the people I have dealt with in commercial mid rise are pretty business oriented and by extension that makes them pretty technologically savvy. Almost all of them came to me because of my website. Referalls happen a lot in commercial too. Give anybody you get a bid too a fat stack of cards.
