Gardiner SLX 30' WFP Review

I’ve been using my new Gardiner SLX 30" WFP for several weeks now so I thought I’d post a review. The SLX is a carbon fiber pole so it’s really light and very rigid. It’s a giant step up from the 28’ fiberglass pole I had been using for so long.

There is much less fatigue when using the SLX vs. the fiberglass pole. I seem to work faster with it too.

The pole itself is absolutely flawless. However, I have had issues with one of the collars that tighten the sections together. Also I had an issue the very first day I got the pole with the threaded pole tip coming loose from the pole as I screwed the brush onto the pole.

Then just today the collar that tightens the first (smallest) section came completely loose from the pole. I had to finish my job with the hog’s hair brush spinning around as I attempted to clean the remaining windows.

I’m a bit disappointed with the tip and one of the collars coming loose within the first 2 or 3 weeks but other than that the SLX is a killer pole. I do have concern about the durability of the plastic collars but time will tell if they are durable or not. Hopefully Gardiner will resolve the issues of the tips and collars coming loose from the pole.

Anybody else had any similar problems with the SLX? It’s a great pole, I just don’t want it to fall apart.

I don’t understand why this thread was hidden from the most recent threads. It was just posted today but I couldn’t find it when I pulled up the most recent threads.

I see it on the home page. Remember if there is a lot of posts and replies it can drop off quickly from the most recent post list.

I think if you were the last to post, it won’t show up on the What’s New? list you see.

I have the same pole, same size too. I have used the golden noodle (Tucker) for the last 3 years now and this pole is BY FAR superior in every aspect. EVERY aspect. I have a building I do every 3 months and it takes about 9 hours with the noodle, with this pole- the new air hose I use and quick connects…the time was cut down to 5 hours! No joke! I saved 4 labor hours on this pole just on that one job.

I had the same issue with one of the clamps comming off, I just super glued it back to the pole and have not had a problem with it since. That was about a month ago.

You compare it with just about anything else and it wins hands down WITH the issues.
With my Tuckers I had issues all the time. Bent sections (usually #2 or #3), stripped clamps, cracking butt rings, broken hose rings, or having them come out and having to get new ones in all the time…having to constantly buy new brass fittings to connect supply hose to pole hose since they hit the concrete and mess up, tucker key’s getting stripped because of having older style clamps…

those are just off the top of my head, with the SLX, having one or two minor issues is nothing compared to the issues other poles have. Every tool will have some minor issues. The ones you are having can easily be fixed.

Exactly! Mr Larry

Richard if you take a peak at the whats new button it wont show a post that you have already seen until someone posts again in that thread. The home page behaves differently. It stays up until its buried by other posts. Once someone re posts in thread it goes back up to the top. It took me a couple days to figure that out my self.

It does play with your mind until you see it pop back onto the front page. When I did the 2nd post in the thread I saw it go straight back to the first page. I guess the board had been really busy after I posted the thread.

Thanks for the clarification!

I’m looking forward to receiving mine in 2 days. Will be comparing it to my simpole 60.

Thats another pole I really want too.

It was an easy fix with two part epoxy resin as suggested by Shawn Gavin. I would’ve been fine if I would’ve had one of my Xtel poles with me for backup out on that job. I was relying on the SLX but even a great pole like that can malfunction. I guess I’ll take one of my Xtels along for backup from now on.

I hear ya. I got an Extel too, my 45 footer has 2 of the flip lock things messed up. The plastic wont grip the screw. And STUPID CBA SUPPLY WONT SELL TO ME FOR SOME STUPID REASON!!so I can’t get any extras because of whatever! This completely SUCKS! Never heard of a window cleaning supply house black balling a window cleaner for no reason other than who his friends are. Whatever.

I usually just keep my SLX on display man. I got a 35 foot extel that I use the most. I don’t want to mess my baby up.

LOL, I wonder if they’re jealous that you had a WCR sticker on the back pack while on tv?

But yeah it’s just wierd. Could it be a misscommunication? They say “Don’t sell to him” but really mean “dont’ sell that part to him unless he orders in bulk”?

I just got my SLX 30 foot pole last week. What a difference! WOW. It is a breeze to use and fast.

PS
One of my clamps came loose too. I guess Gardiner got a bad batch of glue from their supplier that didn’t bond properly.
It was a quick fix for me. I won’t hold someone elses glue not bonding correctly against Gardiner.

Why not – don’t they own quality control of the products that bear their name?

BTW, I love my Gardiner SL-X 30 and SL-56 poles.

I got Gardiner same problem all clamps but I fixed myself wrapp the tape and screw it but amazing to use after tucker pole I am very happy with my new toy

You’re right Larry, as usual. Good point. They screwed up. But it’s only one strike against them. They hit a couple home runs in my opinion.

Is Gardiner doing anything to rectify this problem with poles already sold>?
