I’m a public school teacher and want to wash windows this summer. I live in a small community in Idaho of about 35,000: half of the population being college students. I was thinking about doing residential, apartments and anything commercial I can get.
What advice/tips could you guys give me to help me get started?
Practice, practice and then practice again, and make sure you are using quality equipment. The stuff you get from places like Lowes or Home Depot are ok for a homeowner trying to do it on their own , but not for a professional.Surf this forum and the web for tips, tricks and advice on how to clean windows properly. Then hit the streets talk to anyone who will listen, hand out cards, flyers or anything that will get your name out there… Best of luck
The MINUTE I read your initial post I KNEW you were talking about Rexburg! Oh, how I loved/hated that town for college. Too cold! Any big competition in Rexburg? I wish I would have started my business there before I transferred schools. Loved BYU-Idaho.
Another Idahoan in the house, welcome from Nampa. You are already doing the first best thing you can do. You are on this forum. Read, listen and watch all the video’s you can get you hands on. Practice on every window you have access to and start putting flyers around the town a moth or so before school ends and you should have a busy summer. Might be something you would continue on weekend for fall and spring. Good luck.
thanks guys… I am hoping to do well enough to keep it going through fall…
yep… rexburg! I don’t think there’s any competition except for the occasional college kid with a rag… There was a guy who did run a window washing business here but recently moved… I emailed him and he was kind enough to give me some businesses to contact; he actually told me about this forum…
