I’m trying to edit my first postcard from WCRA in GIMP. I’m working from my Windows XP.
But I can’t seem to select the text in a layer ti edit the text.
What am I doing wrong or not doing to select and edit?
Or should I just go to ELEMENTS 12?
I haven’t used GIMP very often, but from what I know, when you want to edit text, you have to make sure you have the layer that the text is on is selected. From there, you should be able to use the type tool to select the text you want to edit.
If that doesn’t work, the text might already be rasterized, which means that the text is no longer editable. If that’s the case, you can always delete the layer that the original text is on and retype what you want in the same area.
Unfortunately since I can’t see what you’re doing, I can only help so much. But I tried to research your problem for you and I came up with a lot of results of people saying that they’ve had the same problem and need some sort of plug-in to fix it. Sounds like one giant pain to me. If you’re still having issues, I suggest moving on to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12. It’s a step down from Photoshop, which means you’ll have an easier time editing the marketing pieces.
From what I hear from other members, GIMP gives people problems with the RGB to CMYK conversion, so it might be better to stick with an Adobe-based program from now on. Good luck with it!
