Glass blocks

Does anyone here offer to clean glass blocks? What is the best method for doing that? Do you clean the grout as well?

No grout cleaning, we just wipe them off, but again we don’t charge for them.

I did some glass block with spray away. Worked good with a clean huck. The grout on this job was good to start with.

I charge for them, scrub, and wipe dry, steel or bronze wool if needed for glass block. Scrub and wipe dry for the plastic block.

I second the sprayway method. just spray a bit of sprayway on the blocks, use a brush to spread it around then wipe dry with a clean huck. Fastest method yet that I’ve found.

Scrub and wipe dry for me also, I may try WFP on them this year.

I scrub pretty wet, do a preliminary wipe down with white towels (or squeegee if they are perfectly flat-surfaced, then buff with a huck or scrim. No special treatment for the grout.

I also find the cement/grout really roughs up your scrim or cloth - probably best to use an older one or one that’s nearly ready for the bin.

WFP outside, Sprayway inside. I Use a light-duty sponge or white pad to scrub grout lines.

Thanks everyone you answered all of my questions! Where is the best place to get spray away? Can you purchase that in local stores?

Yep, you can get Zep and maybe Sprayway at HD.

I bought a case of sprayaway on Amazon. Dont recall price but it was cheap and shipping was free.

My local Home Depot sells Spraway for $2.38 per can. My local Ace hardware sells it for $4.99.

Ditto to the WFP outside and Sprayway with a huck inside. I charge as if it was a regular window. I have an account with CR Laurence and buy it by the case. Product # S50. I don’t mess with the grout.

Randy,
CR Laurence has a private label program-your name and logo on a can of Sprayway. I always thought it would be a great give away, but prices are still a little steep for me. Do you use this program?

I charger as if it was another window, simply dip a huck in the bucket to get it damp, wet rag wipe/dry rag wipe. Simple and fast, you can tell a difference. All of them that I do are above the bath tub.
