i have never used any of these products. when i was trained i was trained to use just dish soap (joy/ajax etc).
which of these products do you prefer? what are the pros to using them? do you still use dish soap in the mixture?
thanks for your help.

GG4 is forumulated for use with hard water, although it works fine with soft water as well. I don’t believe it’s scent is nearly as strong as GG3. GG4 is colored blue, not that it’s really visible in your bucket while cleaning though.
It wouldn’t hurt to order both and see what you prefer. You’re probably going to get a ton of different opinions, but it’s really up to you as to what you use.
Better yet, order the Titan Labs sample pack from WCR. You’ll get both GG3 & 4, plus extra cleaners that are good to keep on hand.

Whatever you do, make sure you get a float bottle. I don’t think you’ll get a fair review of how GG works unless you mix it perfectly.
thanks for the info micah. which do you prefer of the 2?
I was told by my supplier that gg3 is more concentrated, gg4 just has more of a surfactant (suds, bubbles) in it. I don’t know for sure. I’ve only used gg3 with a tiny portion of organic dish soap. However, I was turned on to a great product called 64/1 I believe its made in the state of Washington. Tim from "Gleaming the View gave me a bottle. Its great stuff just by its self. It does evaporate quickly in the sun due to its alcohol content so adding a dish soap would remedy that. There’s not a lot of crying, sweating, bleeding around the panes either which makes detailing next to nil. It has a nice odor to it as well. If you want a really great smelling soap use palmolive and fabuloso, WOW!
I prefer gg3, and we mix it heavy
what do you mix it with? do you use dish soap as well?
I started using GG4 when I got started two years ago. I constantly got comments if I was just cleaning with water. I was learning the super swirl and couldn’t get it down until I switched over to Dawn dish soap. The dish soap was so much more slick and allowed the squeegee to glide better. I haven’t looked back once. I use an acid to work on tough hard water stains, but besides that I use dish soap.
I heard the dish soap leaves a film on windows whereas gg cleans and lasts longer. I’ve let own windows get nice and dirty to have a little experiment. Im doing to try 3 different cleaners. 64/1, strait gg3 and kirkland organic citrus dish soap from costco. Lets see if if one outlasts the other. I’ll photo document the process if anybody really gives a crap. Mainly, I dont really have anything else to do =)
so you dont mix the two, the dawn and gg? i have a guy that works for me part time who’s old company mixes gg and dawn… i couldnt tell a difference but maybe depending on what kind of windows or the job i would…
no, I don’t mix the two.
Since I live on a hard water area I use GG4 and I add Winsol Super Slip for glide.
How is that super slip working out for you Tony? Its not a cleaner right, just a solution to give you more glide right? I just found out a couple of weeks ago Winsol is based in Seattle. I drove by the shipping and delivery. I’ll have to go there sometime maybe get a few freebie samples.
You’re right Super Slip isn’t a cleaner. It works great for adding glide. If you can get some samples to give it a try I highly recommend doing so.
I like the GG4 more than GG3 because the water in my area is around 250 TDS and the water softeners are helpful. The windows do stay cleaner longer because there is very little residue with GG4, however it is more difficult to swirl a squeegee with the Glass Gleam products than with dish soap. I spoke with Harv at Titan Labs and he said that adding soap or glide agents like super slip will increase the residue left on the window.

In other words
Lots of soap = lots of glide and lots of residue, which means faster resoiling.
GG 3/4 = very little glide and very little residue, which means slower resoiling.
I asked him if he would consider making a GG5 with some more slip in it. He said that would cause more rapid resoiling and defeat the purpose of using GG4 or GG3. When I tried adding extra GG4 to my bucket the results were not good.

So I have solved my dilemma of more slip vs. slower resoiling with a compromise. I add a very very small amount of dawn to my GG4, because I can move much faster and make more money with some added glide.

I see no difference in the resoiling rate on my commercial store front windows unless I add to much soap. I tried super slip at their recommended dilution ratio and the results were disastrous. One customer actually complained.

I actually use less that their recommended dilution rate.
When adding Winsol Super Slip to GG4 I found that the maximum recommended measurement provided maximum slip or glide.
Adding a lesser amount of Super Slip provides less than maximum glide. I like maximum glide but that stuff (Winsol Super Slip) goes quick at that rate of measurement.
Dawn has even better slip and cleans glass just as well as GG4 so I’ve swithed back to Dawn.
To answer the original question directly, GG4 was developed after GG3 and it has more detergent and evaporates slower than GG3.
I like to mix. I prefer GG3 with dish soap. The only reason I use the dish soap is to cut down on the cost of GG3. Normally I will mix 2 gal. of GG3 with 2 gal. of dish soap + 2 bottles of supper slip. I mix in a 5 gal. dispenser so I only need to take floater bottles with me. I will then only use about a 1/4 ounce or less for 2 gal. of water. I have hard water in my area and can’t tell the diff between GG3 and GG4. I would have to say I like the scent of GG3 better.
I blend both gg3 and gg4 together in equal portions then add a bit of Palmolive dish washing liquid in as well, very hard water here where I live, so need the gg4s softening effect, but i prefer the concentration of the gg3, but find I still need a little more soap to attack the NASTY finger prints on the shop fronts,
I can get away with using any of the 3 by them selves, just vary the mixtures, I find the 10 mls for the gg3 is fine, gg4 needs to be a bit closer to 25 mls and the dish liquid about 10 mls, but when I mix them all together only use 10mls
I get nice glide across all but did need to experiment with the mixes to get how I like it
I’m not a huge fan of either gg3 or gg4, but I do think that gg3 provides more suds and glide. But that’s probably cause it’s just more concentrated so we put more into the mix.
We rather just use dish soap and not mix it too heavy. However, on some days when it’s smokin outside, u just need to use gg3 or gg4 and do straight pulls and work fast. The glass is just too hot.
