Had a guy call me to sponsor a single hole at a golf course. for a year under 400 bucks. there will be a sign with artwork and my information has anyone done anything like this with any luck?
How big would the sign be? How close to the tee would it be? Would they let you hook up a business card dispenser to it?
I had two signs on the driving range. I didn’t get any work from it but I had a ton of people tell me that they saw my sign. what ever that is worth? I got a grip of tees and golf balls printed up with my name and number on it. When I go golfing I put a few tees in the carts, drop some tees at the tee box, I’ll leave a few balls here or there. The funny thing was I would number the balls and places them in certain areas. The ones that got pulled from the water resulted in most of the calls back, second were the balls I left in the ladies tee box.
I am going to get more details today he said a 18’‘x24’’ sign right next to the tee. I just have to determine what he considers right next to. That was the first thing that came to mind. I would only do it if I could put a card holder on the sign. I would doubt that someone is going to scratch my info n a score card and then remember to look at that card after they are done playing.
If you go ahead with it I’d be interested in knowing how it turned out. I was approached last year with a similar proposition, but turned it down.
Mhhh … I did receive 2 calls in the last month from golf courses here. Never answered the calls since they were from out of state, but they both left a message and wanted me to call them back. Now I know , thanks
The sign is 5’‘x11’’ mounted on the ball washing station on the 1st hole. I am going to check out the course tomorrow and see what the set up looks like. I am trying to get a hold of some other business that are using there service to see if they have had a good return. Ill post a pic of what they look like tomorrow.
How many women golf at the course? I ask only because it has been my experience that the women are making the calls for window cleaning.
Maybe you can get a sign up at the women’s gym!!!
I may use this idea
Have you ever heard of “jonny boards”? That is at least what the company is called here. they put up those nice signs in the bathroom stalls and above urnals full of adds. I had some in a gym in the womans shower area and rest room stalls. Oddly enough as weird as it sounds they worked out pretty good. They just got to popular and over priced for my taste.
Went and looked at the course today and didn’t see anything that impressed me. the signs were small and the only 3 people playing there was a young group of kids, called a few of the people with signs up there and they all said minimum to no return so i think ill pass.
Genius, scientific marketing move. Seriously. Well done.
Do you have complete creative control, or is it just “This hole sponsored by Joe’s Window Cleaning (not your name I know, sorry)”
If you have some freedom, there might be some potential for direct marketing.
And if you have some freedom, I wouldn’t put much stock into the results from the other companies, since they might not have properly leveraged the medium for the right message to market match.
I have a few golf course accounts and I’m finishing up the contract on 4 others by the end of next week. I have had men ask me for my cards for cleaning their office buildings and homes. Never do they call. When guys and gals are at the course the only thing they are thinking about is playing golf. You would have to get a really good sign to get their attention. I am getting free sponser space for one of the 4 courses in this quote during a pro qualifier. I have to talk with the guy to figure out where I am putting my banner. It either goes in a really good place or he can pay for the service lol. Golf courses are a funny thing as image means alot. It’s a great place for business. As Trump once said, if you want to get involved in big business learn to play golf. It can be worth your time to put more effort into getting to know the staff and operations manager. Often multible courses are managed by 1 company. Know who the right guy is and you can get some really good gigs. The picture here has been posted before, but this is one of the places in the bid. It gives you an idea what types of jobs are out there.
So while these guys (and gals) are in the middle of the game they will read this sign and jot down the number?
If it were free I would say do it but it is EXTREMELY passive and that $400 could for sure bring in business using different media.
I am not big on the golf tees and balls either. If we put ourselves in that situation where we find a tee in our ride with a companies name in micro print…
how many jobs has that lead to?
I like the effort, but marketing is scientific and must be based on something.
p.s. If you decide to do the sign thing try to create a card holder on the sign that says “take one” and fill it with cards.
that will help it’s effectiveness (by how much who knows)
Well this sucks cause I have not heard from the guy in a while. I have left him messages but he has not returned my call. I know the management company just took on another course out of state and that’s where he is. But heck man!! Phone me back cause I am not doing this crap last minute. I want the banner to be placed in the interview area so it can be seen on local tv. Maybe that’s freaking him out lol.
