Hey Chris are you familar with the domain settings for google apps? I have my email there with my domain. I had a web page through google but took it off to get something a bit more useful. The only problem is that if I set my domain name to my new website it turns off my email. I don’t know if I am entering the server numbers wrong but I have tried about everything. My new website is through microsoft Office live. trying to link the two and still use google. Like you said it’s really nice and I can’t imagine switching it to something else. Right now I have my email set but my website won’t come up with my domain name.
I am new to web stuff so another stupid question…Is the host godaddy or office live? the pages are stored at office live but my domain is through godaddy.
Actually, probably not - go daddy is the default domain name registration service that google use if you do not already have a domain and wish to use google apps. They do host domains, however you would have needed to request it separately and you would be paying a monthly fee. the other mob you mention are probably your domain hosts
Come to find out When I got the google mail and domain through google, the tech support is with google and the domain is on google but the settings lay in the end of godaddy. it’s really weird. I think that is why I have been having difficulties. When I call Godaddy I get transfered to google techs. The only way to fix the problem from what I found out is that I would have to transfer my domain to Officelive and enter in the MX numbers to get my mail from google. Too bad after hours of messing with it I found out you cannot add MX numbers to Officelive. So in the meantime I love my google apps and don’t want to switch. Stuck between email and web site and paying for hosting. I guess I will just have to bite the bullet and shell out some cash. Till then I have a single page on google that reroutes to my page at officelive. should work till I figure out what I want to do. The google apps are really good. The calendar feature is nice to keep office staff up to date with meetings and such.
[LEFT]Oh cool … yeah thats exactly what analytics does… I have it hooked up for a few sites and I can manage them all from the same area. then compare one site against another etc…
