Guards for copper gutters

Any ideas?

They’re semi-circular copper gutters under a slate roof. I know Rain Flow won’t fit in there. Anybody else run into this?

Cant think of anything right now, I’d recommend screening the the downspouts to prevent clogging.

+1

rain flow makes a guard for copper half round gutters they sent me a sample last year.

I just found this on the Rain Flow website - http://www.rainflowusa.com/downloads/Gutter_Profiles.pdf

Thanks Bill and Tony!
That ought to do it. Now to finger out what I would have to charge to glue in gutter guards on a two and three story house!

I owe you both a refreshing beverage.

Thad actually we do have that if you need it ( we juswt got it its not on our site yet)

And we just bid on a job yesterday that requires that shape. We bid $11 bucks a foot (because of the gluing)

Get in touch if you need any help.

Believe me, I won’t hesitate to.
When are you doing that job? I’ll wait to bid until after you do yours so I can find out what the pita factor is.

How did it go?
Any major problems?

Also, if you have any material left I will gladly pay shipping for a small piece of it. The gutters on the house I’m doing are 5 1/2" and I would like either a piece of 5" or 6" to try out before I drop the bomb on $600 worth of guards.

Hey Thad. We bid the job but I don’t believe we got it. When we do get a half round install, haven’t done one yet, we will certainly let everyone know how it goes. Rain Flow does recommend it for new gutters only because of the gluing.

HEY! Who let Sean out of his cage?!

I would clean the gutter, and then use steel wool to prep the metal for glue. Allow time for the gutter to dry.

Wouldn’t that be a rust issue with tin gutters?

I was under the impresssion we were talking about copper gutters…

Are gutters still being made from tin? I thought most were aluminum. Sorry if my post was unclear.

Larry and Micah,

I think the only reason you guys disagreed, is your avatars had a brotherly spat.

My mistake; yes, this is a copper gutter discussion.

Does anyone have any experience with installing Rain Flow in half rounds? I just dug up this old thread, as I have been hired to find a gutter protection system for these style gutters and to do the install. These are not copper, but newer aluminum gutters.

I did the one discussed here and I have another one coming up as soon as I can lay hands on some half round Rainflow.
We had several inches of snow here after I installed it. The snow froze on the customers roof and the whole mass slid off together when it warmed a little. The Rainflow wasn’t damaged at all.

Hi Thad, can you tell me how the install went. Do you feel it is necessary to charge more for the adhesive and prep? And lastly, you said ’ as soon as you can get your hands on some half round’; does that mean you haven’t found anywhere to buy it from @ a good price? If you do find some, please let me know.

Thanks, chirstopher

There is definitely more to a half round installation versus regular gutters due to prep and adhesive. Be sure you charge enough to cover it.
WCR doesn’t carry half round and Rainflow won’t drop ship it any more.

Feel free to give me a call tomorrow if you would like.

Chris,
Check with a quality building supply house in your area, thats how we get ours.
