When cleaning gutters, do you include removal of shingle grits as standard?
Or do you price normally for removal of organic debris only, with shingle grit removal available at a premium charge?

Hmm, it can be a pain to remove all of the shingle grit, but I have an across the board price that I charge for all gutters. Sometimes it is easy, sometimes it is task oriented - but it seems to even out in the end.
I also charge an overall minimum for gutters alone; as an add on just my linear foot rate is added to the whole job, and I charge for the portion that I clean. i.e., 50 feet of gutter and 30 feet need cleaned, I charge for 30 feet as an add on service; minimum pricing for stand alone.
Yes, all debris is put into black garbage bags and put with the yard waste for the homeowners.
Yes
Gutter flushing is an additional cost. Downspouts flushing is an additional cost.
Before and after pics are taken to show everything is working properly.
Hope this helps!
When I last did windows, it was all one charge. X$ per ft, everything cleaned out, gutters wiped down and flushed. In WA almost all gutters are drained into runoff systems, not on the ground, we’d just get as much grit as we could in a reasonable amount of time, then flush the rest. Quickest way was to get a small garden trowel and just scoop it as you go.
This.
I like these, over a trowel.
Organic debris only. Unless the gutters have an inordinate amount of shingle granules in them, like over 1/8 to 1/4 inch or more, it will not affect the integrity of the gutters and the flow of water. We do try to get most of it out, but residual granules are not a worry. Same with downspouts. We use these to clear any downspout clogs and they work pretty good.
3 foot nylon rods. They work great as a snake.
Shingles constantly shed the granules, and if the gutters are regularly, or even semi regularly maintained, the granules should not pose a problem.
We also never haul it away. We do 6 to 8 gutters a day during the season (I’m old ) and I could not haul it all. Thankfully, we have a lot of natural areas around here (Raleigh) that we can put it in.
