After researching several options I am leaning towards offerring Leaf Relief as a gutter guard.
Anyone have experience installing these? If so any tid bits or suggestions?
We have a couple of clients with the product and it seems be a solid product. Purchased at 2.75/ft seem extremely reasonable and 10 foot sections should make for some quick installs
Is that stuff made from metal or plastic. Honestly I can see a problem with leaves and debris getting stuck on there since it lays flat in the gutter.
I offer Diamondback Gutter Cover to my clients and also have them on my home. They are so easy to install and they just snap in, no screws required. They have a little bit of an arch when installed so it’s easier for the leaves to be blown off of there. This spring I did a house that had covers that looked just like that but were plastic and they just caved in from debris laying on top off them.
Contact Diamondback and they will send you a box with samples for free.
I have used leaf relief on a few gutters as an experiment (I get a lot of gutter clearance jobs).
It seems to work very well and is a lot easier to clean than clearing out the entire gutter.
We used to use Leaf Relief and it installs fairly easily. Main issue: the rubber gasket needs to be screwed into the fascia in spots to keep the guard from pitching backwards. Sometimes the screws tear through the rubber or the gasket rolls down behind the guard. Found a better alternative. I have been using Gutter Rx now in place of Leaf Relief and have been much happier. $2.19 per foot, no rubber gasket, self-cleaning ridges, great customer support and 20 year guarantee(the company will pay me to clean out the gutters if their product fails within 20 years). We include free brushing of system with each window cleaning service so the customer really has no maintainence worries as long as they are using us for their window cleaning on regular basis. Be glad to answer any questions you have. Just call our office 219-364-1118 and ask for Don.
The construction company I use to work for used it. I loved the stuff. Installed really quick and easy. We never had to screw in the rubber back to the facia. Just used small self tapping screws with a drill and 1/4 inch driver along the front edge. It seems together nice too.
We’ve been installing Diamond Back Gutter Protection as well. As far as cost/performance/profit margin its the best I found.
If price is no object than I would recommend Gutter Helmet or Leaf Guard. These are very solid protection systems; but are very expensive. I think those go for $20somethign a foot, vs we put in DB for only $9-11 and performance comparison is negligible.
Do you install the ones with or without the mesh? We have done a couple gutter cleaning jobs with these guards/no mesh and while they are very sturdy, they let in a lot of dirt and small particles. Usually find trees growing out of these guards. The mesh cover would really be the way to go. Never knew the name of these guards until now.
No. All that we offer is the black on black with the zbend. We just did two replacements on homes where they had installed over 200’ of the unscreened product (not db…but more of a consumer grade metal mesh) and it filled up in a matter of months.
Its the small seedlings that fall through and start growing things. you should order that contractor kit. I can’t speak for its durability yet as our installations are not even 6 months old yet. All in all, its good stuff.
I needed serious gutter protection as there are a bunch of trees surrounding my house. The company I hired used the Clear Water protection system and I’ve been very pleased with the results.
Careful with the blanket statements there, fella. I’ve seen this product saturated with pine needles and pollen which then decomposed, creating a nice environment for thick moss to grow on top. Depending on the type of surrounding trees it might be a good idea to blow these off every year or something.
Not saying its not an effective product, but it does have its flaws.

Thanks. I guess if its under warranty, that’s a protection. How long is the warranty vs. how long did it take to see shrinking in the past?
