Most issues I see are from one of two things, bad install or pre-brace materials.
From what I can tell, there was a time where there werent support brackets.
And that would make the guards collapse.
(On the flip side, I’ve seen instals where they would literally fold the material down,
instead of cutting it out at a corner, creating a complete blockage.)
The material would then get waterlogged and create a dam, similar to a clogged downspout.
I found myself tearing out (previously installed) bad rainflo, and charging extra for the gutter clean.
… no installers were pushing the warranty, and the cust didn’t have a relationship with the installers to call them,so it seemed.
So I started using to my advantage.
I would push the warranty aspect of it, and the customer would get the materials for free.
- I simply charge labor
- the material is shipped free to the cust
After so many warranty job, the manufacture caught on, and has since referred their warranty work to me.
I get calls all the time for replace/warranty jobs.
I’ve proven I know what I’m doing, and was smart enough to take advantage of the warranty.
Incidentally, I’ve had cust who just bought their home, and were not the ones who had it installed, originally.
- the warranty goes with the house, not the owner.
I’m at $8 bucks with a discount, nine straight forward.
I would rather clean their gutters every year and I am honest with them about it.
“You can pay this now, and never see my smiling face again”
“Or pay that each year for the next 8 years”
I DO present it that way.
- their choice, and I’m ok with either choice.
If they bite, they bite…
If not, I’ve got 8 years worth of work from Mrs Jones.
