Due to multiple old injuries on both hands, my hands have been killing me by the end of the day on residential jobs. I haven’t had a problem with in regards to cleaning windows in the past, it only started up this year. I’m attributing it to old age lol
So - the questions -
What would you all consider to be the most ergonomic handle WCR carries?
Does anyone else experience this? Could it be some sort of window cleaner carpal tunnel syndrome? If so, what seems to help?
A few years back I had this same problem, the Doc explained to me that most of us tend to sleep with our wrists curled. I slept with a brace on both of my wrists for about six weeks or so to get rid of the terrible pain I was having and then made a mental effort to sleep with my wrists uncurled…worked for me, not sure if it will for for you.
I never had a problem with my hands, but I did with my arm. I went to see a Dr. A he hold to get a brace and place it where the pain was the worse, it worked great I still use it about once or twice a year. He told me that what I had was mild tenditis and my 2 options were surgery and 6 weeks of imobility (this was late spring when I saw him), or use the brace and slowly recover. I will still use it about once or twice a year. I think your best answer is a Dr. visit and maybe a brace.
IMO ergo handles don’t really make a differance. Just a selling tactic I think. Just like most green eco cleaning products. Go to your doctor see what they say. I had tendinitis a few times. I’ve just had to modify my hand/wrist movents. Strenthing your weakness in your hands is key.
Be safe.
I actually have ulnar nerve damage on my right elbow and the effects my hand big time. My fingers/hand goes numb and sometimes clenches up. After around 8 to 10 windows it starts bothering me and I’m trying to learn how to use my right hand without looking like I belong on the special olympics.
There was a post on here about this very problem a few months back. Some guys really got some bad issues. Mine never really got that bad but I did get some pain with lots of french widows. After a little while I built up some strength and it’s not an issue anymore. I can see fanning really crunching the wrist bones and causing CTS. When you get a WFP dance with the pole. Dont man handle it up and down. Your arms will blow out by the end of the day. Also your neck is going to feel great from looking up all day.
BTW congrats I was doing some searches yesterday on google for window cleaning companies always have to make sure I’m listing. I am seeing your company start to list now. Not bad like 7 or 8 slots but i’m sure it will move up.
