I’ve noticed that windows with very old screens tend to have hard water stains; yet, the top pane of of the same window never has the same staining. I’m thinking that something in the screen is causing the stains.
Yes that’s it. I have a few older homes with every window covered in screen burn. When I rebuild screens I do so with fiberglass or pet screen to avoid this problem in the future.
Thanks for the replies.
Would Bioclean get it off?
Regarding Sandy, I got very lucky and never lost power. The lower eastside of Manhattan came back on Friday. That could’ve gotten real ugly had power stayed out longer. Someone I know in Staten Island still has no power, and Long Island is still in pretty bad shape.
At least here in Florida, screens can deflect enough airflow to hold moisture against the glass, especially in the upper corners. And as we know, dirt makes moistures cling to glass, so windows that are not cleaned regularly are suceptable to staining. Sprinklers can also aggravate the issue and they don’t have to even spray on the glass. The “mist” can cling to the dirt on the glass behind the screens
We’re in good shape where we are, but a few miles in any direction and its a literal war zone. Media is not telling the truth about the gravity of the situation in Rockaways, Coney, SI and the Shore.
On a window cleaning note… I find it very interesting that Im washing sea foam off of windows 30 miles inland lol. Thank God my WFP handles it well.
