You know, those guys who stand on the street corners and do tricks with the signs? I’m thinking about trying it…
That would be cool! I’m not sure about there, but the people holding signs here aren’t that evolved yet. They wiggle a bit to the tunes playing in their ears and even lip sync some stuff, but as far as spinning like I’ve seen on TV…nodda!
Now I would have thought that with all the coffee drinkers in Seattle and the rain, that sign spinners would be shucking and jiveing as much as possible just to stay warm and to keep the caffeine jitters at bay.
Down here they do all sorts of stuff. Course it’s probably the crank they just did while taking their 10min break sitting in the back of their Toyata Tercel-- but hey, they’re fun to watch. They dance, do one arm hand-stands, throw the sign way up in the air and twirl around before catching it…
Though sometimes you see some who just stand there like cows, chewing on some cud. They’re probably waiting to go on their 10 min break…
Thats a cool idea! All you gotta do is get another sign (A-frame) that stands on the side of the person and have that arrow point to the A frame sign so they can call.
Thats pretty smart. If you do it, please update…
Sign spinners are most effective to guide people to a business located in a strip mall or by itself. I am probably wrong about using just to get a phone number out, too hard for drivers to write down. If you do hire one, hire a girl , daisy dukes and bikini top . Good luck!
My target market is mainly housewives, so I doubt that would be effective
I was actually thinking about this a few weeks ago myself. I’m a big guy and have a huge gorilla costume from Halloween stored away somewhere that’s pretty eye catching. I live close to a busy intersection with tons of businesses and walking traffic. What if I get in that monkey suit (literally) purchase one of those signs you spin and go “bananas?” Like Mike said, I don’t know how successful just a phone number would be. Nobody would know what/who they were calling. Maybe have just my website in bold letters…

Something to do when we’re sitting by the phone waiting for our direct mailing to work!
A way to get people to our website.
It’s so damn goofy it just might work!!!
Cons
I live in Florida and I’d burn up in a full gorilla suit.
We’d probably have to do it for at least a full week before it got people to look online to see who/what we are/do.
I’d probably feel ashamed if anyone I knew saw me doing this!
Sounds a little desperate…put I still kinda like it!
I was joking.
I’ve seen guys doing that for a local pizza joint we have close by… I would imagine if you did it on an intersection or something where people have time to watch all the neet stuff they do (and the info on the sign) it might work. If anything if a customer saw you at a strip mall cleaning glass and said “Hey I saw your gorilla twirling a sign last week!”, I guess it would open up for conversation that might lead to a sale…
Why not go the whole hog & clean a window with squashed bananas on it? Put the window on an A frame on wheels with your phone number at the top. You might even make a few bucks doin’ windscreens LOL. I’m sure you’ll have your photo took - the number will be on there.
oh…ok, that makes sense. Sorry
