Have a nice opportunity...what to do?

I received an offer to be the new business a local bank is spotlighting this month. They have a table for me in their lobby set up. They suggest their customers who visit the bank that day to go over and chat with me. It is near to a lake with about 1,000 homes, mostly wealthy, some very wealthy. A good number are 2nd or 3rd homes, some of the home owners are from out of state. I’ve been told by my friend who is a teller at the bank the most successful setups have been those that have a drawing for a prize. I was thinking this would be a great way to obtain email addresses as well. I think I’m pretty good as far as my verbal message, but any suggestions would be great. As far as a visual display, I have no idea. It seems like I should have one…It is for the afternoon of Friday, April 27. I have yet do be paid for any window cleaning. Done about 15 bids by going door to door and offering quotes, plus fliers. No one is scheduled yet, so I am definately a beginner. This could be big for me. I reduced my other work obligations to focus on window cleaning. Any help would be much appreciated!

Are these second and third (possible out of state) home owners customers at this bank? It is exposure (which is always good) will it cost you any thing but your time, or is the bank wanting to make a cut in any of it?

Exactly…I don’t feel the 2nd and 3rd home owners bank at this facility. However, many who are year rounders do have very large, nice homes. The bank isn’t looking for anything. They even provide a table, they do this each month for a business. Usually one who banks with them, but my friend hooked me up.

Sounds like a great opportunity. It will give you exposure for sure. You could give away 10 windows cleaned or something like that. I am doing a give away for a charity auction at a church near me. I’m giving away 15 windows cleaned. I did this last year and it got me 3 additional jobs. You could do something similar. If they person whi wins has more windows, you will get that income and hopefully a regular client.

Good luck.

I was thinking something like that…

Out of curiosity, have you given this bank a bid on their windows?

There are two things you need to do:

 1. Get a maximum amount of people over to the table.
 2. Close as much as possible.

You and the sign must be very appealing from far away.
Then when they get there you must be very appealing up close.

Possible idea:
Have one sign and one draw bowl on the table. Have the sign say: “Draw right now from this bowl for a free window cleaning”

Shake the bowl while people walk passed. Say "Win a window cleaning! All you have to do is draw from this bowl."
It’s a bank so you have to be discreet.

I bet you’ll get a lot of people coming over.
Fundamental sales: know what “no’s” they will say before they say it and have a reply prepared. No, I’m broke - No, I just had it done - No, I have a window cleaner - No, I do it myself…

You’re best bet to close is to have something on the losing notes that will introduce your sales pitch.

I have, a few months back. They take care of it themselves and aren’t looking for anyone else t do it…

SOme nice tips there, thanks!

Take this chance! I wish our banks offered something like this, what a way to generate more business for them and help you as a new business too! Awesome idea.

I would have a sign "10% off for signing up for a FREE quote. Today only!"
Draw people to you, smile like crazy. Tell friends and family to pop in as well that day, as many as possible to draw positive attention. We all like something more when others show an interest first. Sad, but true. Use it to your benefit!

Had the bank spotlight today…was there for 31/2 hours and got 3 emails and 1 setup for a bid, plus a few interested persons with my business card… I do more than that canvssing in the same time. But we’ll see how many jobs I get out of it, if any.:confused:That’ll be the true test of success…

Good effort! You never know what may come out of it. Besides any chance to get your name out is a good one.

It was nice of the bank to let you come out and hang.

Thanks fellas…looks like one of the people I spoke with is connected with the owner of a chain of grocery stores. Not sure how many I might be having an opportunity with, but I may have an opportunity to speak with the owner fairly soon. And another was connected to a small restaurant, friend of the owner. Doing a bid this week for them. Funny, I was really targeting residential…

That’s great! When I started I too was after residential. It did not take me long though to see commercial was needed as well. We still push to be the best residential service in the area and thats what also makes our commercial work quality high. Keep it up and your reputation will surely grow fast with quality workmanship and service.
