Having a problem with Dex One Marketing

So, I signed up for a three month advertising program with Dex One, Yellow page and internet advertising. I did not get a single job off of it and decided not to renew the contract, but they automatically renewed it without my consent. I called a week after the initial 3 months and left a voicemail to my account executive explaining i did not wish to renew my contract. He never got back to me. Just got home tonight and a bill is in the mail for the sum of $555 due the day before XMAS. So i called and they pretty much told me they have to look into it and they could not cancel it!?! WHo do these people think they are?

This company is shady imo. I wont be doing business with them again. Now the problem is getting out of all this. I looked them up on BBB and they have about 400 complaints against Dex.

What has been your guys experience?

never spend money on this kind of advertising all this companies are doing nothing else but stilling money from you .
they simply doesn’t work

Any paid advertising is a risk. Where a lot of us, including myself, make mistakes is in keeping up with our advertising. Daily if not weekly monitoring, adjustments, and tracking is essential in any paid campaign. One of the things that most ad companies from local news papers to inter net companies( Angies/Yelp/Etc.) offer but do not promote is unlimited revisions on any ad. Im not saying that this was your fault Tuck, but I know I have failed myself on keeping up with this stuff, and the result was the ad itself failing. For some reason I cant enter paragraph breaks … so im gonna do my best with spacing My advice would be to continue to try and get out of this contract by talking to a higher up at the ad department you are having the issue with, or simply dispute the charge with your bank saying you did not authorize it. PITA I know, but if you are just going off principal, put the time in and get ur $ back any way you can. Or look at the other side of the fence and take it as a lesson learned. That all said, don’t stop taking risks with ads, more try and make them perfect for who your target of the ad. Change it with the seasons. Offer different specials. Experiment. Test. Constantly. Once you find something that works, beat it to death till it stops, rinse wash, repeat.

My Dex advertising has gotten smaller every year until now it is a line in the yellow pages and a listing on DexKnows with a link to website. I pay them about 15/month

Ive found that services like Dex / Yext etc are really somewhat pointless.

Put it this way… how many leads per year do you think you get from secondary and tertiary websites like YellowBot and FindUsLocal?

Probably none, as most people will just Google your service and go from there.

Yes, the citations they provide are valuable, if only from a SEO aspect but instead of paying for citations and premium listings on unused platforms, you can take a day to put the citations in for free yourself. These links will still hold weight in the search engines, but they wont cost you anything.

I can go into further detail, but I’d have to charge lol
