Hello everyone. This is my 1st post & yep I’m a noob. I have all Unger equipment, and just got a 16’ extension pole. My 1st job wound up being a 2 story house with over 300 individual french panes & around 15 double hung. Amazingly it was alot easier then I thought to use the squeegie on the extension pole for the 2nd story windows, and they came out pretty good…except for the edges! I balled up a huck towel & wrapped a rubber band around the end of the pole but the edges still kinda looked like crap. I know there is either something I’m doing wrong or there has to be an attachment out there for that purpose (I wish I could afford a waterfed pole maybe in a couple years if things work out)
I’d appreciate any advice…1 job & I’m already starting to love it and looking forward to the future. Alot of good advice on this board
Welcome Steve. The detailing will get better w/ time. One suggestion is to let the edges dry first and detail the dried solution. It comes off better that way. You could also try rolling the towel as you detail. You do it this way - as you run the detail rag up or down the edge turn the pole. This keeps dry towel on the edge as you detail.
I’m going to try the Unger fixi clamp myself. In the mean time you could use a 5 or 6 inch squeege as I do. Lay your dry towel over it and away you go.
Dog ear your squeegee channels. It pushes the corner of the rubber against the glass. If you’re using a pull down method this works great because you only hae to detail the top of the panes and not the sides.
Good hunting.
You can also use a fixi clamp, a reach around or attach a small peice of metal to the back side of you handle. Jusy wrap it with a towel and detail after the cleaning.
Go to Youtube and watch videos posted by a guy calledd mywagga. It gives you details on working very efficiently.
