Let’s just say I’ve got a lot of grocery stores to do… mostly Krogers.
I’ve done a lot of commercial work but not many grocery stores, … actually none. People streaming in and out constantly, some high glass pole work. Not much money per store if I’m slow about it.
So here’s the questions
Do you have any tips on working smoothly and safely in the stores?? I did one already and had to stop a lot to accomodate customers. They were quite friendly, I bet you could guess the most common questions and comments. But I’ve got to work to do and I’m hanging my squeegee high in the air letting someone through, … you know what I’m saying. I want be safe and smooth.
Any tips to work quickly in this environment?? It’s a lot of glass, lot of of polework and working around carts, plants, etc. I ordered a 22" to try and pull faster and am planning on using 2 poles (one w/mop one w/squee) I have to do all the work myself right now and I know it’s gonna kill me, but it puts that stuff on the table we need.
Any input would be great. It’s gonna be a long couple weeks.
May be different for your stores, but all of ours have doors you can pop open. Leaving room for customers to walk in/out without any interuption. The other windows (front of carts etc…) I don’t have any advice. I like the idea of the back flip though.
yeah, they do have the pop open doors which is great. A lot easier than having to put the doors on manual and open them every 15 seconds. Except I do have to occasionally wave my hand at the sensor to keep them in the open position.
And I thought about the Backflip thing because I have used one before. I liked it for some jobs and not others. I kept leaving drip marks at the top of my pulls and got frustrated. I know this is probably a technique thing but I never really got good at it. That and it gets fairly heavy after using it for awhile. But I still might think about using it again. Anything to get faster at these particular jobs.
The grocery doors when fully opened just open up 1 of the doors and that will stop the doors from opening up with out turning the button off and the customers can walk right in without them bothering you.
Thanks, I didn’t have the popout door open enough. I did one today and when I opened it enough the doors ceased to keep shutting. hahaha for awhile I was trying to time my squeegeeing so when the doors closed I would try and finish the door by holding the squeegee and letting the action of the door finish my swipe.
I have to agree with the other posts…go early enough so customers arent in the way…we do a lot of stores and restaurants and know when the best time of day for each is…good luck!
We also go earlier than they open and finish the entrance/exit areas before any foot traffic starts.
Out of any of our other commercial/storefront window cleaning we make the most on grocery stores. It’s good money. Why is the money not so great for Krogers?
A lot of the grocery stores here have two entrances, and they’re not usually too far apart. I would close one exit down, clean the windows, then switch to the other exit - that’s if the Kroger’s have two entrances…
You’ll quickly learn the “busy” hours of grocery stores. There are times where you won’t wanna be there.
