High rise training

Hello everyone, I’m here in the midwest looking for training in high rise window cleaning. Ideally, I would like to travel to your city, work for free in exchange for teaching me how to clean high rise windows. 3 or 4 days?! Maybe somewhere far south, Texas, Lousiana, Florida, anywhere warm! I started my window cleaning business 4 years ago and it is booming. I need to learn this before I get too old! I would GREATLY appreciate anyone who would train me. Please let me know. Thanks

Hello Joe-Quality…

I’m Dangerous, welcome to the forum. Great that your business is doing great.

Doing high-rise work is highly technical and please forgive me for saying this …But your going to need more then just 3 to 4 days of training.
That’s enough time to set you up with 1 knot , really though a person needs at least 6 months of on the job training to get established as a medium level high-rise jockey !

My advice is to either set up a high-rise section in your company for ADVANCED CLEANERS who know all the in’s and out’s of high-rise work ! Hire a few ADVANCED CLEANERS and have them set for you a training schedule for others in your business and yourself to learn.

Otherwise go to work for a company that can properly train you, which probably won’t go over well if they know what your doing ! Still going out for 4 days isn’t going to cut it. I’m sorry for this negative reply but I’m just being frank and honest with you !

What do I know I’ve only done every aspect of window cleaning in my 31 years !
Good luck to you !

DANGE

I was just going to agree with you Dange, You might get a vague idea of the basics in 4-5 days, but there is no way you should work on your own after such a little amount of training

Take a look at this website IWCA.org You can not get into high rise cleaning in a few days. As others have said it is very technical

Agree with the previous responses, and could only add…
You’d be wasting a lot of time if you went ‘to work’ for someone, in return for training.
Meaning, you already know how to clean glass…

You might be better off spending the time doing the things before and in between the actual cleaning. (Rigging, setting up safeties, doing drops, working the stage controls, etc…)

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I was actually looking to see if it was something I would be interested in doing or going through with(repelling, dropping, heights, etc.)And, getting the inside scoop such as pricing, frequency, extra work, how clean the windows really turn out. Kind of a hands on experience before I invest alot of time and money. I know a few days wouldn’t teach me enough(and keep me safe) to get started but it would certainly give me a good idea. Thanks again for helping!
