My search attempts were surprisingly fruitless for this question…
What type of hose do you take with you to jobs?
I currently have a cheapo 30 ft vinyl hose that kinks like crazy and is impossible to roll up. Was looking into those pocket hoses figuring it would be perfect as a simple to store on the truck backup hose, but never saw so many negative reviews for a product.
I need this only for screen cleaning in the event the customer doesn’t have a suitable hose already hooked up.
Had heard people talking about then but had gone with some of the other hoses I had seen at home depot (both the red contractor hose and a regular garden hose). Disappointed in both… I tried the mean green and it’s really nice - very lightweight and strong, doesn’t kink and bend
I went to the extreme on tubing, so I now only use about 3 feet of hose. Btw my tank is on a cart with a bracket attached to hold my 300 ft of tubing. So I roll one cart up to the tap and unroll the rest. It is so much easier to put the tubes back up compared to the hose.
Here is a pic, this hose was cut from an original 100 footer that I normally would carry on site. I use my wfp on certain screen cleanings. Even if you don’t use a wfp, I would go super small on your hose for the sake of speed.
If the work requires the wfp, yes. I try and go traditional as much as I can. I should mention that I have ramps that I use for my pressure washer, and it really isn’t to big that you can’t just two hand it out of the van.
I carry 300ft of hose at all times and I think I have 500ft total. I have my tank mounted in van and need 200 ft often on one job I have use 400ft. I got mine at Costco for $10-$27/100ft hose
I do mostly traditional because I like it. I only use my wfp on hard to reach windows or if I don’t feel like using my ladder. At least In residential. In commercial I only wfp two stories and up and pole bottom floor.
I cut the ends off and attached standard garden hose ends. It doesn’t have as strong a flow as a typical hose, but it’s lightweight, takes up less space, and is practically kink-proof. I hand wrap it into my 5 gallon gutter cleaning bucket (using the under/over method so it unwraps nicely)
I also have one of these on the end of it:
And yes, @Majestic66, color might have played some small role in my selection of these items
I enjoy the skill behind it mostly, but if I find heavy oxidation on frames I go traditional. If I need to put some steel wool on the glass I again like traditional. I just notice the small things a lot more when I use a squeegee. When I WFP it’s always about efficiency and speed, then when the job is complete I double check my quality.
I would say it’s more expensive than a very basic hose but when comparing hose weight and durability to other styles it’s very similar in pricing.
I bought a contractor hose and a regular green garden hose before the mean green and it’s a big difference in weight and quality - should have gone with that in the 1st place. I’ve found it also fits on a hose reel better than the other styles I’ve used.
Downside is it may take a while to get it shipped in. At least it did when I bought some before the season started
