Hose reel capacity?

I’m looking for a hose reel to hold 1/4" air hose, and I was wondering if there’s a way to estimate how much 1/4" hose a reel can hold, based on its capacity for 3/8" hose?
For instance, if a particular reel is built to hold 100’ of 3/8"- could it hold 200’ of 1/4", Or maybe 150’?

Has anyone come up with an approximate ratio for this?

Thanks!

i have a reel design for 100 ft of 3/8. I got 200 ft of 1/4 on it no problem

Hey Alex,

Glad to see that you're still going through with your setup, I'm excited for you man. FYI the reel Lucas suggested is almost exactly the one I have, only diference is, mine is 50ft capacity, and, well, I have 200ft of air hose line on it, mine works great, and I only paid $15 for mine, it was on clearance. I got mine at tractor supply. Keep us posted.

Thanks! Im still working out the details, but I’m definitely going thru wih it.
Was that reel for 3/8 hose, or garden hose? It’s hard to imagine fitting that much hose on a reel that size! I have my eye on a couple 100’ 3/8" reels, and I’d like to try and fit 300’ of 1/4" on it, for some larger jobs I have. Do you think that’s plausible?

the reel was for a 3/8 id air hose, I’ll post a pic of it on tueday, when I get get back in town

Confirmed! (not that I was doubting anyone  )

That’s 300’ of 1/4" polyurethane air hose on a “Grizzly” 3/8" x 100’ reel
