Hot windows in direct sunlight

Im really struggling with this.

I was cleaning some Anderson, double hung, faux frenchies (exteriors) and tried everything I could think of…
The glass was very warm and the solution started evaporating almost immediately after application.

I was leaving direction change smears which were nearly invisible outside. ( really had to hunt for the right angle to even see them)
but very distinct and obvious from indoors, along with the detailing lint my scrim was leaving behind.

I changed rubber, nope, tried a 4" squeegee, nope, cut down a channel to fit and tried straight down pulls, better, but I was still
getting a light haze at the top. ( yep I made a dry line at the top with my scrim before each pull).

As soon as the sun went behind the trees they looked beautiful…

I appreciate any tips you guys might have. Hot glass is my Achilles heel at the moment and I’ve just gotta get past this…

Thanks, and happy Friday!

Glass gleam will help.

Five bucks says you use a towel to wipe your squeegee, and not a sponge…

Did you try changing the water, or clean/change the strip washer. That’s the first thing I do when I leave marks.

Jared thanks, ill try it.

JfromtheD, I owe you 5

Matt, I did wash it and it helped a bit…

I use Glass Gleam 4 which has a wetting agent. Otherwise, I would just add a wetting agent to the water. Additionally, you might try adding extra water just to cool the glass down.

 Keep it, and use it buy yourself one.
You’re welcome.

John thanks, will try the gg4. I did try wetting the glass to cool it, has worked before for me , but on these windows, the faux muntins (grid) glued to the outside of the glass, hold water in behind them and the squeegee seems to draw it out leaving half inch wide wet marks behind the blade. If im careful with the solution application I don’t have that problem. It took a while to get that water wicked out using a towel and then I just ended up cleaning it again as I was left with a bunch of lint on that pane.

Thank you

Getting every bit of the glass and muntin real clean should help, but in hot sun it may still cause a slight issue.
The one thing that saved me in a situation like that once was detailing with a chamois.
If you are able to use a water fed pole with pure water, there will be no issue.

Thanks for the heads up on the chamois.

About the WFP, that was exactly what I wondering. “would this be easier if I had a WFP?”
Im going to have one as soon as I am able!

Yes it would! Just scrub it well and rinse it well and it will dry spotless… The sun will actually help you evaporate the water faster and you will then be able to tell how good it looks…

Also check out Wagtails

Wagtail won’t help at all on cut up work.

Get a WFP and you will never have to worry about that issue again.

Hmmmm…
Sounds like the stage is set for the debut release of his new “no detail” squeegee channels coming out soon! Chris michaelmole josh_cronin
Would be an interesting segment on #themoleabdjerseyshow

Yep 6 over 6 and doing one at a time… In the shade, I try to wet out at least 3 at a time…
