I use Powerhouse. Good stuff. Although I don’t have much to compare to because Powerhouse is all I have ever used. There is a Sun Brite store local to me.
Seth do you downstream or x-jet? How much powerhouse do you use for a typical 2 story 3000sq ft home?
We use the X-Jet. I’m not sure of the amount used on that size house exactly, but I’m guessing around 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 Gallons??? I use anywhere from 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 gallons per 5 gallon mixture of housewash.
I’m not so great at keeping track of our supply usage. It’s something I am working on.
Clearly I’m not a chemist. However in my limited research in active ingredients in Powerhouse I have found it to be heavy on the degreaser. It has corrosives and is labeled as such so make sure you have the MSDS sheet handy.
I only use 1 gallon of the Powerhouse in each 5 gallon mix as that is what is recommended.
Have you guys used it for streaks on the gutters?
Again, I’m not a chemist. But you will need an agent that can break the electro-static bonding that allows the streaks to remain on the gutters. Gutter Zap has become my favorite for that. It is my choice for gutter whitening. Sunbrite also carries it along with Powerhouse.
WCR also carries Gutter Zap.
I think gutter zap is amazing! I am using that stuff all the time. I offer gutter whitening with my house wash and charge alot for it. Was looking for a product or solution that I could blast up there and rinse off and charge less but still have the same results.
Add some GZ to your housewash solution and kill 2 birds w/ one stone!
Most instances will require hand scrubbing to get gutters white. Truck wash brush scrubbing at least. Still shouldn’t need a ladder though.
Anyone here downstreams?? Ive heard its the way to go when doing a house wash. The only thing is that it runs the chemical up your hose and gun! But you can use alot of hose something like 300 ft, dont have to carry the bucket around, and cost alot cheaper! Is this true? If so sign me up
I may be misinformed but I thought when downstreaming you can’t use more than 100’ of hose? I was also under the impression that you can not shoot chems as high as you can with an X-Jet. I only use the X-Jet and run with 300’ of Pressure hose with no problems.
How long of the chemical hose do you use? And 300 ft thats awesome!! Whats the ratio of chemical do you use?
I use 200’ of hose with no problems and can shoot a low pressure stream about 40 feet with a 4 gpm machine.
And I leave the chems at the truck.
You just have to get the right downstreamer, tips, and gun.
Come to New Orleans and learn all about it!
I use the standard 15’ of chem line that the X-Jet comes with, but you can use up to 50’ I believe. My chem ratios change depending on how dirty the surface I am cleaning. I am no Pressure washing guru. I am still learning all the time. I have a window cleaning company that does some pressure washing as an add on.
Thanks for the info. If the Wife and kids are gone at that time for their annual Summer Vacay to Cape Cod, I may attend if we’re not to busy with work.
If I can help you in the meantime let me know!
I would love to come across to the N.O.!
We just softwashed a 2 story home yesterday that had some mold and alot of dirt all over.
We downstreamed and we have 250’ of line on the trailer. Worked great. You just have to wait about 20 seconds for the line to clear whenever you change from rinsing to soaping or vice-a-versa.
I just ordered 4 nozzles from Bob at pressure tek to speed things up even more. Tell him that you need a soap-hi, rinse-hi, soap-lo, and rinse-lo nozzle. Tell him your machine specs, and he will have you going in about 10 minutes.
We used about 9 gallons of solution on a two story home, about 2000ft. But we had to hit a couple of the walls twice because we don’t like using much chlorine especially when there are a lot of plants and grass around the home.
Our mix was one gal of 10% sodium hypochlorite, 8 oz of simple cherry, and the rest water. We used about one and half buckets of this. I think our ds pulls at about 10:1, so our final bleach concentration hitting the wall is about .2%. It worked great and nothing or no one was burned or harmed in the process. But our homes out here don’t have much algae or mold, it is primarily dirt.
